Booked the 1/2 day canoe trip for adult and 13 year old, picked up promptly from Frankwell for 10 min ride to Montford Bridge. Friendly and good short instruction and the off you go. We took about 5 hours in total, very peaceful trip passing swans, geese, ducks and ducklings, lots of buzzards and heron. Excellent value for money. Highly recommend!

Steve and I , (both in our 60s and haven’t canoed in years ) , had a great time canoeing the 12 miles from Montford Bridge to the Quarry park . 4 hours paddling but well worth it -total peace and quiet with herons , kingfishers , swans and ducks with their young and fish jumping . Just beautiful. Kieran and Josh were both very helpful and we really enjoyed the experience. We plan to canoe with them at Bewdley next time .

Great instructions on where to go and what to bring; really helpful staff and clear explanation of what to do and where to go when canoeing. Great place to stop for lunch on the way. The whole of our party (16 adults and children) really enjoyed it.

My partner and our dog undertook a 2 day canoe trip between Llandrinio and Shrewsbury in June 2021, camping for a night at Hire a Canoe's base at Montford Bridge.

The trip was great, we had the section upstream of Montford Bridge all to ourselves on the first day, and there was a nice pub, The Royal Hill, at Edgerley where we could leave the canoe and walk across a small field to have a break from paddling in the afternoon. Even on the second day the river was quiet despite this being a more popular section down to Shrewsbury. The field at Montford Bridge is a great spot to camp next to the river, which we fortunately had all to ourselves.

Hire a Canoe were easy to book with and communication was prompt and helpful
from the outset. They also readily accommodated our request to move the dates once we realised we'd double booked the original weekend. They picked us up in a minibus from Shrewsbury and drove us to our start point at Llandrinio, allowing us to leave some camping equipment in their lockups so we didn't have to take everything in the canoe. They also kindly brought this with them on the second day where we were met at the end point in Shrewsbury.

The only small downsides were the basic facilities at the campsite (portaloo and drinking tap only) although not really a problem for a one-night stay, and that the pub next door to the campsite was a little disappointing (obviously out of their control).

I would happily book with Hire a Canoe again when we're next looking to get out on the river.

My Husband and I booked the 'paddle around' canoe hire trip. Having been before we wanted to take my Sister whose 11. We booked online and it was simple enough but with the uncertain weather Keiran and his Team were fantastic and flexible should we need to reschedule or cancel. We were lucky to get out on the river today and the sun came out just in time. We had a thorough safety briefing, the equipment was clean and readily available for us. The service from start to finish was exceptional and we couldn't recommend Hire a Canoe enough. Great value for money, we'll be back!

Lovely 2 hour paddle in a kayak. Friendly service and made sure the feet pads were in correct position for me. I put my husband and cousin in a canoe with 2 children and they also had paddles. Good explanation before we went and glad there was a place for bags at the start. Would happily book again. Hopefully see you next year.

Wow what an experience! We did the trip from Montford Bridge to Shrewsbury and had a blast. We were pretty much complete novices to canoeing and managed it in just under 4 hours with medium effort.
We saw plenty of wildlife along the way, including a couple of kestrels and several kingfishers. It was very peaceful and apart from a few walkers and fishermen we didn’t see a soul until we came into Frankwell.
The trip itself was managed very well by a lovely team. Can’t fault the experience and would love to return in the near future!

The young man kitting us out was very knowledgeable and helpful for our first family canoo trip. We felt so safe with the two boats rafted together at no extra cost and we all enjoyed the experience immensely. We had no experience but now definitely want to go canoeing again. Thanks so much

Detailed but easily understood instructions prior to boarding the Canadian canoe. The canoe was easily maneuvered even with two full size blokes in it. For a mid 60s person with bad knees and back I would have preferred 1/2 the distance. But the fact I completed the whole distance demonstrates that it wasn't that strenuous. Sharing the canoe with a much fitter stronger person helped enormously.

My boyfriend and I booked the Paddle ‘n’ a pizza for Bank holiday Monday 5-7pm. Cost: £20 plus cost of 2 pizzas £14.
Easy to locate Hire a canoe in Montford. Organised process - pay for pizzas first then let hire a canoe know you have arrived for your slot. Everyone was extremely, genuinely friendly ! Nice and chilled out atmosphere, especially considering I had stupidly booked the wrong activity. They resolved the issue quickly and without any complaints. Given buoyancy jackets and a barrel to keep our backpack dry. We were shuttled across to Frankwell fairly promptly, despite initial delays due to how busy it had been. We still had 2 hours on the river, regardless. Natural conversation with the instructors. Induction was helpful and simple, with welcome suggestions to row upstream first. Our pizzas were also served freshly and promptly on our return to the tipi (they ring ahead to let Severn Social know we are on our way). The food was delicious! There’s a lovely bar there to have a drink while you wait too. All round excellent experience that we thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to EVERYONE and ANYONE!
[Social distancing regulations enforced and followed. The instructor wore a mask on the bus, as did we. There was a plastic screen between the driver and us too. All equipment was being cleaned once you finished with it.]
