St Chads is a must for visitors to Shrewsbury interested in church architecture and is a place for quiet reflection. On the Darwin tour due to him being baptised there it's well worth a visit whatever your faith. The round design gives a very different feel to the inside and to sit in the beautiful oak pews to contemplate away... More

A very unusual, circular church with a welcoming atmosphere - enhanced by the organist playing at the time!

A circular church with some stunning stained glass windows. Don't miss Ebeneezer Scrooge's gravestone in the churchyard!

An unusual circular church, where Charles Darwin was christened, built in the 1790s. Great sweeping staircase to get to the balcony.

Being an Architecture + History + movie lover rather than a church goer, we headed for this church...after 2 months in Europe on holiday we were beginning to get churched out! Was worth the walk (near the beautiful "Quarry" gardens) as the circular architecture is interesting to see. It took quite a while to find Scrooge's headstone - it was... More

Unlike most churches come cathedrals St. Chads was circular with the congregational seating more in line with a theatre where the altar was at the centre. We went there for a recital and the audience was very close to the musicians. The decor of the church was magnificent

This church is designed in the round - the pews are circled around a central area. Some excellent stained glass, a rather imposing organ and what looked like a balcony that would have been fascinating (unfortunately closed when we were there) make for an interesting church. It even has its own car park - cheaper to use than the surrounding... More

We came to see a Clarinet Quartet lead by Hollie Whittes. She was very good indeed. The church itself is interesting beacause it's round with an impressive dome. The acoustics we good because of that. In the church graveyard we found the false grave of Ebenezer Scrooge which had be left there by the filmmakers when they made the George... More

When you step inside the doors of the church, the 'coziness' and beauty takes your breath away. The stain glass windows are stunning and the circular design is unique! So glad it is remains so loved and cared for.
