An excellent well maintained museum with so much to look at, arranged in a stimulating and varied style. From Roman relics to fashion through the years, taxidermy and our favourite: Radiance Bras ! The free guide and free entrance was also a bonus. So good we went twice…

Had an excellent lunch in the cafe. Very well managed Covid measures, lovely food and friendly service. Nice ambience plus very good toilet facilities. Called in the gift shop which has a great selection of books, toys and gifts. Well worth a visit and will certainly go again.
Deserves to be well supported!

We really enjoyed this little gem of a museum in the heart of Shrewsbury. There is plenty on offer for those interested in Prehistoric, Roman, Medieval, Tudor and modern history. When we visited there was also a British Museum touring exhibition for some prehistoric gold works - well worth the visit for that alone. The museum is free to enter, although we put a few pounds each into the collection boxes to help out. We spent nearly three hours here and didn't get bored or tired. The gift shop also offers, amongst the usual museum fare, a Brother Cadfael Self-Guided Walks booklet for a few pounds, which led to an enjoyable Sunday afternoon stroll. All-in-all, a great way to spend an afternoon.

What a hidden gem this place is! Grew up just over the border and visited Shrewsbury a lot, but never knew this place existed, until a friend told me about a Lego exhibition there. Lego! So grabbed my Mum and off to go!
But as we discovered there was so much more there, we were both amazed by the sheer amount of Roman artefacts they have there.
A four story building, with different time periods on each floor. Really clean with well presented displays. Interesting use of QR codes to find out about different items, not good for my Mum who doesn’t know the difference between a smart phone and a cucumber.
Lucky enough to see the Gathering Light exhibition, on loan from the London Museum.
A really good day out, that we both thoroughly enjoyed and have said will definitely go again.

What an amazing place! We spent a fascinating couple of hours in here; travelling through Shrewsbury's history. There is so much to find out about. The museum is very well laid out and has so much interesting information. Special thanks to the gentleman who introduced us to Old Parr.

Lovely museum, free to enter, friendly staff, excellent cafe.
The Roman gallery was really good and well laid out. The Anglo-Saxon and Bronze Age exhibition, 'Gathering Light,' beyond wonderful. Thank you.

We popped in for a Saturday afternoon, expecting from the front that it would be a few rooms with a couple of cabinets; I couldn't have been more wrong! It was a delightful trail traveling between many different beautiful rooms, seeing history from the bronze age to visiting contemporary lego pieces.

I'll definitely be back soon for a more thorough visit when I have time! There were a number of truly remarkable artifacts.

Free of Charge Museum in the Centre of the Town.

Staff are very friendly, a nice cafe on site. The Museum is over 3 floors, and has some interesting artefacts from the Roman era.

Worth a visit when visiting Shrewsbury 👍
