Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a gem of a place. Lovely cream teas and wow the cakes are truly amazing. Great service and reasonably priced. Make sure you take time to read the history of the area.

What a find. The staff were very welcoming. There were a good range of brochures and booklets about the area. The cafe was spotlessly clean and cool on a warm day. A good range of cakes and drinks along with various crafts available to buy. Some interesting pictures on the walls regarding the history of the area. Off the beaten track but well worth a detour. Thank you for being a high point of our visit.

Learnt a lot about the local area. It really is quite remote. Good tea and cakes and plenty of local information.

I went here yesterday ,with seven grandchildren, the eldest is 6,the y had a great time looking around the Somme Tunnel, The Powder House ,the Cow Shed, the dead pools and following where the trains had been, then we all went into the Bog centre where there was crayons and pictures to colour in,kept the children busy, the staff were lovely, very friendly,we all had a drink and some of the delicious home made cake,I know it's on my door step but it's well worth a visit.

My partner and I walk the Long Mynd regularly but until the May Bank Holiday just passed, we had never ventured further west to the Stiperstones, so as we were staying in a local B&B that night and had a bit more time than usual, we decided to pay a visit.
We’d read in one of the Walking with Offa maps that The Bog was a good place to park to walk to the stones and that there was a visitor centre there run by volunteers who served tea and cakes.
With no more information than that, I wasn’t expecting too much but what an excellent find this place turned out to be, packed full of good things to eat, drink , read and buy!
We parked just up the road in the East Bog car park and walked back to the centre (formerly the village school) - an attractive stone building with limited parking available, including a disabled parking space.
Outside were benches and seats for visitors to use and displays of plants for sale. Inside were several long tables laid with bright table cloths which gave it the feel of a village hall.
The walls were covered with information boards that explained the area’s interesting mining history, geography and flora/fauna. There were also reference books and local walking maps to look at as well as to buy. Also on display around the room were crafts made by local people – everything from jewellery and bags to toys and cards - and all good quality and reasonably priced.
And that was before we even got to the refreshments. A team of volunteer ladies were busy in the small kitchen at the far end of the centre, serving teas, coffees, cold drinks and a great selection of home-made cakes, including gluten free, which they brought out to customers on trays.
On sunny days you can enjoy all this sitting at the benches outside. On the day we visited, the sun hadn’t quite made up its mind to come out so we sat inside, eating our (delicious) cakes and flipping through the photo albums that showed The Bog mining village as it was and included tales of local people who had either worked in the mines or gone to school at the school house. It was all very well put together and interesting and I felt I could easily have spent a couple of hours there reading up on the history and the local geology and wild life and eating more cakes.
We were very impressed by this small centre and spent much more time/money there than we had anticipated. It’s a great place for walkers as it sells a good selection of maps and, through all the displays, you get a really good education into the local area. While refreshments are limited to hot/cold drinks and a good choice of homemade cakes (the kitchen is very small and can’t cope with more), everything is of good quality, so much so that we paid a second visit after our walk.
Whether you’re walking in the area or just out for a drive, stop by at this great little centre. You probably won’t find another like it.
TIP: they only take cash so pay a visit to the ATM before you visit.

There is literally no better way to end a lovely walk on the Stiperstones than to visit the Bog Visitor Centre. Set in an old school building and staffed by local volunteers, this cafe serves delicious home-made cakes with hot and cold drinks. It is also an info centre and shop selling local artists' work such as crafts, cards, books and pictures. Well worth a visit.

This is consistently one of the best cake and hot drink stops for the cyclists of Shropshire (I've sampled many)and proved it once again this weekend. Auntie Ann and her team of local volunteers provide superb quality cakes at this excellent visitor facility, whether you're basking in the sun outdoors enjoying expansive views over south Salop and Wales, or sheltering indoors against the dreek!

Cake was nice Cup of tea was fine. One of the ladies could have smiled a bit more. It wouldn’t have also been better if they had not overcharged me for the honey. Didn’t notice till we got back to our cottage £6.50 instead of £5.50. If you read this please put the overcharge of the pound into a charity. Dog friendly was a plus though
