Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I, on a day trip to Bath and no longer in the pink of youth, found ourselves requiring public conveniences. Google Maps identified Parade Gardens as having them and not too far away, so we headed there. After paying the admittance fee (reduced rate for seniors - good on the owners) we went into the gardens, only to find the facilities out of use and the door locked. Nothing to alert people to this at the entrance: you only find it out after paying the entrance fee. There's a unisex toilet in the same building but you need a 20p piece to gain admission. Who has a 20p piece on them in these cashless days, for crying out loud? So we exited the charming looking gardens without delay and without looking around, and searched elsewhere.
Three questions for those who run the gardens: first, why are the conveniences not kept in working order through the busiest part of the summer (this was August Bank Holiday and Bath was crowded)?; second, if the main conveniences are closed, why not open the unisex one and disable the 20p piece requirement?; and third, if the conveniences are closed, why isn't this advertised at the entrance?
Come on, Parade Gardens people, say at the entrance before people pay if facilities are not available, and at the least, remove the 20p requirement for the alternative.

Just below the Abbey these gardens give lovely views of the river, the Abbey and Pulteney Bridge. There is a small charge due to the lease arrangements but the ticket is valid for re-entry all day. Nice little cafe and also deckchair hire. Lovely floral displays.

Bath has many beautiful green spaces incorporated within its Georgian architecture but this park along the Avon River is the prettiest setting. Part of that is its location along the River but part of it being in the city center surrounded by many of the great sights of Bath, like Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the rugby stadium. It is also interesting to see how the city itself has built up with the only low spaces being green parks like this to not only provide beauty and recreation but also some form of flood control. We saw it on a cold December day with snow still on the ground.

There’s a ticket price of £2 per adult to get into the park. It’s a small very quite and relaxing area with beautiful flowers and plants, a cute pergola and nice views of the Pulteney Bridge, the river and cascading waterfall. You can borrow deck chairs. At the time of our visit, public toilets weren’t available and apparently you have to pay to use them. If you paid for the entrance to the park, then the toilets should be free. If it hadn’t been for this last detail, this would have been a 5-star review.

A fragment of Arcadia in the center of the city.
Sitting on the lawn, beneath the columned terrace that can't be seen from above, listening to the thunder of the weir blending with the bells from the Abbey and enjoying the view of the Avon with its bridge is transcendent on a sunny day.
These gardens have never been a public park and were concerned as "subscription" gardens for the nearby residents. It's actually a privilege to be allowed into them for such a small fee.
The gate staff are unusually pleasant and polite. This place is somewhere you either understand or miss out on.
It's the best two pounds you can spend in this great city.

Wanted to visit but didn’t realise that there was an entry free as the gardens are private not public. Paid the £2 each to enter and it was worth it as it meant we had a lovely spot to sit and eat our lunch without it being too crowded. You also get a lovely view of Pultney Bridge. There was live music on the Grandstand the day we were there which was nice. It you want a little pitstop and bit of time to relax in the gardens then its worth a visit.

We were so pleased to find these gardens on our day trip to Bath- somewhere to sit and relax. The weather was beautiful and there were lovely views. We didn't mind paying the small amount- the lady at the entrance was very pleasant and welcoming!

Yes it’s nice & the views both of the town & Pulteney Bridge stunning but this is a very small circular park apparently privately owned hence the fees. Poor show. The council should have some backbone & demand it’s kept free.

Parade Gardens has a number of delightful displays of Flower Beds and a Bandstand.
We walked a short distance along the River Avon to admire Pulteney Bridge and the Weir.
There is a small Entrance Fee to be paid at the Kiosk which is manned by friendly and helpful Staff.

Really loved these gardens. I’m a sucker for pretty flowers and parks anyway but this one was lovely. Was worth the fee to go in. We were lucky we had a beautiful sunny day to enjoy. You really wouldn’t think you were in the centre of a city when sitting on a bench here. It was so calm and peaceful.

Are there picnic tables? Is there a covered area to eat a picnic?
Written 17 January 2019
Pretty sure there were no picnic tables last summer. There is a café with tables, but they might not like you taking in a picnic. it would be nice to sit on the grass

can i take a dog
Written 28 November 2015
It says it doesn’t allow dogs but there’s rarely anyone there to say you’re not allowed too. If you still don’t fancy risking it, there’s a walk way on the opposite side of the river which allows dogs.
