Superb collection
Mar 2020 • Friends
I would highly recommend visiting the Fashion Museum. For me it was the high light of my time in Bath. The exhibition changes regularly . It is well laid out with beautiful examples of item like gloves. Lots of shoes. A good over view of mostly British clothes from c19 to the present day finishing with a dress worn by a Kardashian.
There is a really good book selection mixed in with nice in expensive scarves and jewellery.
From there we walked about the Assembly Rooms which were lovely. Lot is unexpected fine detailed decoration, fine stone carving, mirrors and chandeliers. There was a tea room at the end of the Assembly Rooms but we did not try it.

Interesting visit to Fashion Museum in Bath
Dec 2019 • Couples
My wife and I visited the Fashion Museum in Bath in December. They have a great collection of clothing and associated items that date back to the 1700s. The museum displays the private collection of a famous fashion designer. We both thought it was very interesting.

Interesting small exhibition
Feb 2020
This museum is small, but good for an hour or so. The historic costumes were beautiful, and it was interesting to see costumes of the year 'in the flesh' with all the detail that is lost in photographs. I really enjoyed seeing some Chinese visitors trying on and photographing period dresses, they marched past all the exhibitions straight to the dressing up room- go with a friend and do this and you will have a great time pretending to be Mrs Bennet or Jane Austen!

Small but very interesting

This museum has a nice selection of period costumes. It was well organized. We spent a little over an hour there. I would highly recommend the tour that was included in the price of the ticket.

Girls loved the dressing up!
Feb 2020 • Family
Visited here after purchasing advanced tickets online. We thought our girls would like to see the different fashions throughout the years. Also they got the opportunity to dress up which they absolutely loved. I would recommend visiting here while in Bath. Again, the Audio phones are amazing and a definite benefit while walking around. Great way of finding out information and facts.

Some good exhibits but ultimately disappointing.
Feb 2020
A frustrating visit really - there are some very good things to see, but the overall impression was one of being slightly "short-changed." I liked the earlier exhibits and learnt quite a bit, but felt that there really should have been more on the mid-late twentieth century, which was barely covered. I think that if they had done so, there could have captured the interest and enthusiasm of younger visitors.

Personally, I would also like to have seen more "low end" clothing. Fashions did change for the working classes as well but very little of this is included.

In conclusion, it just felt that with a little more effort and thought (and without much cost) they could have designed something of broader appeal.

Frocks through the ages
Feb 2020
This small museum is situated in the Assembly Rooms. The collection spans a many eras of fashion with a dress of the current year. This is a pink netting poodle dress, which is on display. A good way to while away an hour. The Assembly room have a cafe for a cuppa afterwards.

Really enjoyed the presentation of the garments, including the parallel historical facts for context. The dressing up space was a joy.

Great for fashion, costume and history
Feb 2020 • Couples
Fantastic little museum with 100 pieces taking you from rid of clothing up to present day. The artefacts are beautifully preserved/presented, and the audio guide adds a detailed and fascinating explanation, including the social events that would have shaped fashion. You can take this at your own pace and listen to as much or As little As you wanted to. As well as information displays on the garments, additional information of relevant political and cultural events of the time give you a well rounded view of how things developed.
At the end thete is a 'dress up'section if visitors want to try on period costume.
Seems like they had more in archive, it's a shame the place isn't bigger so they can display more!

Bath Fashion Muswum

We took a bus to the Fashion Museum which is at the Assembly Rooms. The fashion is from the 1600s to modern times. There are recordings to help you go round and tell you about the styles. You have a chance to dress up and have your photo taken.
The Museum is a few steps from the famous Royal Crescent which is well known for Georgian architecture. Bath is a lovely town.
