- Colin RBuckingham, United Kingdom92 contributionsSmall but fabulous bird of prey centreGreat little centre at the heart of this important project. Wonderfully enthusiastic staff at a venue that gets you appropriately close the birds. Make sure you time your visit for the bird flights. Beautiful. Only negative - there were only 2 birds in the flight. However at a small venue with limited birds & the importance of putting the birds first, I guess this is understandable. Thank you.Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review - we really appreciate it! I'm so pleased you enjoyed your visit and had a good time with the birds. So sorry you weren't able to see more than two birds in the display, we usually fly 3-4 birds for each display but as a small organisation putting the welfare of our birds first we very occasionally have to reduce the display teams because of staff shortages, extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Do come again for another visit soon! - ivgoldYardley, Pennsylvania32 contributionsAn Outstanding Activity and a Wonderful OrganizationThis was a terrific experience! Paul flew three owls of various sizes. Our guide, Georgia did an excellent job of discussing the needs, habits, and personality differences of the owls. Georgia then took us out to the field where I flew Charlie, the hawk. Engaging with these beautiful animals was amazing. We were so impressed by the passion and devotion of Georgia and the other staff members. In addition to caring for the birds, they work hard to educate the public and they promote conservation efforts. We are so glad to have participated! It was a highlight of our trip.Hi, Thank you so much for such a lovely review and kind comments. I'm so pleased that you had a great time with Georgia, and the birds. Do come again soon! We had an amazing time at West of England Falconry on 9 March. We booked an owl encounter with them and after spending some time looking at all the wonderful birds they have on display we were met by Alice. She spent the hour introducing us to and telling us about 3 amazing owls, giving us many interesting and enlightening insights on owls and these specific birds in particular. It was a truly unique experience that I have never had before and well worth the money, especially when you can see how the volunteers and staff at the location care so much for each individual animal under their care.
After a very enjoyable hour getting to know the owls, we watched their flying display. Again, it was so interesting to see and learn about the variety of animals under their care. The drone display in particular was very impressive and again felt very informative.
If you are staying in Bath or are in the area I would say this is a must-see attraction and worthy cause, highly recommended.

I work for a local charity and this year we’ve twice taken a group of those we support to The Bird of Prey Project for their Hawk Walk and Owl Encounter experiences.
These have been some of our most popular outings this year and the feedback we’ve received from those who went has been glowing! The standout aspects have been being able to get up close with these majestic birds with the opportunity to actually fly them, as well as learning more about the birds. The staff are clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and gave our groups a real insight into the world of falconry. The also made sure both the people and the birds felt safe and comfortable the entire time.
Highly recommended – as one of our attendees said it was ‘an amazing, must try experience!’.

This was my third experience at the Bird of Prey Project, and my partner's second. However this was the first time we had flown owls! It was amazing, as our previous times have been. I absolutely, 110% would recommend! Naomi has endless knowledge - there was literally no question she couldn't answer, and her obvious enthusiasm and love for these animals just makes the experience so wonderful. We were also lucky enough to have a trainee with us, I think their name was Jamie (sorry if I got that wrong but I was distracted by the beautiful owls and all the facts you were giving us!), who is clearly being trained up well - they were also incredibly knowledgeable, and both they and Naomi were so friendly.
Being inside made an interesting change - I imagine this would be absolutely PERFECT for anyone with mobility issues. The owls are obviously so well loved and cared for, and it was great hearing snippets about their history and personalities, and then seeing those personalities in person (feather?!). Every time I come here it just makes me smile as we have such a wonderful time. These guys deserve any and every accolade they can get for not only helping out birds that need to be rehabilitated or rehomed, but for their sheer passion and dedication to them and their conservation.
The amazing farm shop next door that does a lush Sunday roast is an added bonus. We'll absolutely be back! Thankyou Naomi and team!

Booked an Owl Encounter on Saturday for 5 of us. Exceeded all our expectations and kept all three generations enthralled. Patrick our guide was welcoming, professional and knowledgeable. A great birthday treat.
The weather was bad but it didn’t matter as the flying area is indoors (if a bit chilly).
We booked a table at Newtons Farm Cafe afterwards - make sure to book well ahead as they get very busy at weekends.

I had arranged for an owl experience for my boyfriend just before Christmas and it was such a wonderful experience. The girl who helped with the owls was so friendly, knowledgeable and personable (I’m so sorry I didn’t retain her name but she had blue hair, from Bristol, and was so lovely!). I absolutely loved feeding the owls and wearing the glove. We interacted with three owls and the barn room was sweetly decorated with twinkle lights. What an experience! Thank you!
The only downer was that I had paid in advance and this wasn’t recorded on my booking. I didn’t even get a receipt or booking confirmation which I don’t believe is even allowed! This resulted in the manager being unfriendly and disbelieving and I had to pull up my bank information to prove I had indeed paid. I felt at this point I was poorly treated; no apology was given. You shouldn’t offer advance payment if there’s not a legitimate way of you recording sufficiently who has paid. It was embarrassing in front of my boyfriend. Especially as I had arranged this as a gift and after the interaction he was aware how much the whole thing cost. I think you could improve this aspect of the business.
Just want to note that all the other staff members were extremely friendly.

Such a great little find. The falconry has a range of birds of prey to look at and a small, but very factual museum. Don't miss a flying demonstration, at 11 or a 2.30. The staff are very enthusiastic when talking about the birds and will answer any questions you may have, and with great detail.
Overall, well worth a visit and at 6.50 for an adult ticket you really can't go wrong.

I booked an owl encounter, which was absolutely brilliant! The handler was very knowledgeable and friendly; she was super happy to answer lots of questions and afterwards she kindly showed me around the rest of the sanctuary - telling me about the lives of the birds in the wild.
I was a little cautious when I arrived as the site is situated amongst some other businesses (a farm and cafe) so I wasn't sure where to go at first. The site is also relatively small - BUT - I would happily recommend the experiences to anyone. You will learn a great deal and the connection to the birds is wonderful.

Kate led our experience and it was amazing - she did a great job of making us feel at ease with a lovely Harris Hawk named Travis and we learned so much about him and his species as well as the other birds. Everyone we spoke to on the day was super friendly and we felt like we got plenty of time to wander around after the hawk walk as well. I was a spectator while my partner actually did the hawk walk and I still got to have a bird land on my head! Loved it and will definitely be back

Visited with my girlfriend, we had a lovely time. There are a great many birds, a nice café and farm shop nearby. What really made it were the staff, they were incredibly passionate, knowledgeable and approachable. They gave a good performance when demonstrating the birds, you really got the impression they cared about the birds they look after. The only down side was we took the bus and the closest stop has a path that is difficult to traverse due to overgrowth and a busy road. I would highly recommend going by car or taking a taxi.

Hi, If multiple people book a hawk walk, does each person get their own hawk or is it one hawk for the group? Thanks!
Written 23 June 2023
We had one hawk for the four of us, but we took turns. Each of us flew him multiple times. Even with one hawk, it is a fantastic experience. Everyone will do it multiple times.

Hi Netti.
The cost depends on how many there are in your group. It takes about 90 mins for the experience. I'd also need to know what date you have in mind. You can find all the info on our website.
