- Marta FSchlieren, Switzerland80 contributionsBeautiful gardensI have visited Chalice Well so many times by now and it's a place I keep on returning to. If you'd like to you can purchase a annual Chalice Well companionship (via their website) which allows you to visit as many times as you like during one year (and also gives you some %s off for one shopping spree at the wonderful shop. And finally you can also book a stay at the retreat house - you do have to pay that one, but the booking is only possible with the companionship). Just saying... because while it supports Chalice Well it's also a great option for re-visits. During my stay in Glastonbury I visited 3x. The gardens are gorgeous with many areas and corners where you can simply sit, rest, meditate, connect to nature, connect to the divine, whatever you feel like. :) The shop is lovely and very, very much worth a visit - take your time there as there are many interesting and unique items.Visited May 2023Written 6 August 2023
- IsabelSolihull, United Kingdom39 contributionsPeaceful spotLovely peaceful spot, I’ve been coming to the chalice well gardens for years with my family, especially around the summer solstices. During these weekends there’s things like massages, acupuncture, card readings and wand making available for people, this is lovely. The garden itself is lovely and peaceful either the water running all the way through the grounds. In the summer you’re surrounded by lovely flowers and wells. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful day!Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 January 2024

If you are visiting Glastonbury Abbey and Glastonbury Tor - make sure to visit the Chalice Well in between these two sites. It is part of the story. The theory is that the Holy Grail was buried here beneath the well, which is why the water runs red. Of course the real reason is chemical. Go take a look.

I wanted to utterly love this place based on the photos I had seen. Even with the map I missed 2 of the highlights. I went back and found one but the other eluded me. It must have been where areas were overgrown. What I did see was beautiful for the £5 entrance fee. There are on site toilets which are well maintained and looked disabled friendly. There is also a shop.
The well head at the top of the garden has seating around, and there are numerous signs up throughout telling you to put your telephone into airplane mode. This is after being told verbally. I lost count of the number of these signs.. Their presence was jarring. This still allows phones to make noise, so I think they meant Theatre Mode, for silence. It is a place for quiet contemplation.
Lots of attention has been paid to architectural features to highlight the water flowing through. There are signs up not to drink it, nor slip in a possible paddling area. A lady was bathing her crystals the entire time we were there, so some photos weren’t possible. There was no sign up to explain why the water wasn’t drinkable.
Just a fence separates it from the White Spring, but the atmospheres are very different. Not all areas are disabled friendly in the garden.

A beautiful place that must be visited in connection with the Tor and White springs.
This garden has something quite special about it, a place of quiet and reflection. This is the kind of escape everyone can do with.

Beautiful must see Challice Well in calming gardens, perfect to meditate and enjoy the healing waters and ground yourself. You can drink the water, paddle in it and plenty of benches dotted about to enjoy the atmosphere and just be still. There are also toilets, very welcomed after being around all the running water 😂and a gift shop to top up my crystal collection😊

Chalice Well Gardens is honestly one of my favourite places on this Earth. The gardens are so beautiful, tranquil and serene. There's such a peaceful, calm energy and it feels really sacred whenever I step foot in there. I always try to visit Glastonbury 1-2 times a year and Chalice well Garden is always one of my stops. The gardens are well maintained, the well itself is such a great place for quiet contemplation. I love the trees, the flowers and the swinging seat where I read a book while looking up at the Tor in the distance.
The only downside is the parking where you have to park a little away. I'm disabled so walking is quite difficult and there is some disabled parking at the entrance (I'm having to reapply for a blue badge and the staff were super lovely in letting us park there without it when I contacted them beforehand). The shop is great too and it just feels like a magical place. Can't wait to get back here soon!!

As mentioned above it can be cold- yet refreshing, The floor is rather slippery so be careful, my dog also enjoyed a refreshing healing dip. Take a bottle if you wish to take out some healing water from the spring at the Lions head.
