Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So easily missed although close to the Abbey ruins. There was a sense of tranquility within the tenderly cared garden, while the open alms house was an education in history. But it was the chapel which was noteworthy as a place of deep spiritual peace and quite beautiful in it's simplicity, the centuries of pilgrims and others' devotions have left their presence.

I have been visiting Glastonbury for nine years and this is the first time I have visited St Margaret’ Chapel, having not even known it was there. A place of peace and serenity in our busy world. I visited several times. I particularly enjoyed looking at the Almshouses and sitting in the pretty garden

We searched for a while to find the chapel and almshouses, it is quite tucked away. It was worth the search! The almshouses were really interesting. The garden was beautiful and peaceful, as was the chapel. A hidden gem in the town centre

We went to see what we thought was the Mary Magdalene Church only to find it is now called St. Margaret's Chapel. Also the famous Templar cross on the floor was covered with a rug. Why????

There is, for me, a very lovely and peaceful atmosphere here at St Margaret's chapel and in the gardens by the almshouses.
The Chapel and houses are not always open, but well worth visiting when you get the chance.
Go to the Pilgrim Reception Centre and find out when opening hours are if you have restricted time in Glastonbury.

This was originally the abbey's infirmary, dedicated to Saint Mary Magdelene. At the time of the reformation the sick rooms were converted into almshouses for the poor and the chapel renamed Saint Margaret's (although which Saint Margaret is unclear). A stream, from the red and white springs, ran under the altar and westwards through the infirmary - the whole complex being perfectly aligned to the ancient Magdelene shrine on Bride's Mound. The channel was later covered with flagstones to produce an even floor, the one closest to the altar was decorated with the "Templar cross" (alternatively interpreted to be a caducius). It was destroyed during the recent renovation.

Stumbled upon this little chapel, garden and alms houses by accident. The tiny houses are an eye opener in minimalist living, really cosy!
The garden is delightful with a fig trained on the wall. There was a knowledgeable volunteer there who was very helpful. A peaceful oasis, all free, but donations welcome in the chapel.
