About
Heart of the Country Village is a collection of converted 19th century farm buildings; now home to individual shops and boutiques as well as two restaurants. The Village, having started as a single country store in 1985, now gives life to a collection of eclectic and stylish local businesses. Attractive courtyards, both restaurants offering al fresco dining in fine weather and a large free car park. And to the delight of our young visitors, a magical Green Fairy Trail through woodlands alongside the car park. Not to be missed are the resident pigs. A lovely place to spend a few enjoyable hours either browsing, shopping or just enjoying a leisurely friendly atmosphere.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Heart of the Country is a firm favourite for me and the other half in particular the Creperie which we’ve been coming to for 15 years. This time I came with some girlfriends and the galettes at the Creperie were spot on as always, as was the shopping at Seasalt, Osprey and La Maison Bleue. A perfect place to mooch around after lunch.

Sunday 10th April 2022, my husband and I visited The Heart Of The Country Craft Village near Lichfield, we had not been there for some time, so we decided it was time to go back for another visit.
The Heart of the Country Craft Village has very ‘specialist’ shops, which include: ‘Osprey’ for leather hand-made bags and purses, ‘Frankie Doodle’ for designer gifts, ‘La Maison Bleue’ for French shabby chic and kitchen cuisine and ‘Paul Martyn’ for hand-crafted wood furniture. There are also lots of cafes as well as a nice garden for outdoor seating.
My husband and I mooched round here for two hours but did not purchase anything.

This is a lovely area to visit whilst you are in Lichfield or as we were staying at Swinfen Hall.
The highlight of our visit was the visit to the Crepes restaurant.what a superb place to eat.
My wife had the Rhubarb crepe.I have never seen such a massive amount of Rhubarb in any dish before. My wife was just amazed at the quality and quantity. A set of lovely shops compliment the area, its spotlessly clean and well worth a visit

Nice area with bespoke shops. Easy to park. Shops surround a courtyard of planted area & seating. Toilets accessible. Number of eating places/cafe. Kids area to hunt fairies in the woods to the side.
Nice way to spend an hour or 2.

We come here to visit the gallery which is great to spend an hour looking through all the artwork. Then it's a trip to the creperie which can be quite busy and hit and miss on the service. However if you are in the area on a nice day it's worth a visit to look around the small shops and barns.

A very small shopping area outside Lichfield with a few small boutique shops and eateries. Nice just to have a walk around and pop into the art gallery or one of the house/furniture places.

Oh yes if you want a pleasant quiet place to eat either inside or out then this place will probably suit you, but as a shopping village it wasn't for me.Perhaps I am the wrong age but I do not want to buy signs or notices to adorn my house and rusty gizmos are not my choice either. Distressed furniture with mismatched handles and fading wallpaper doesn't excite me. The staff I came across were either rooted behind a desk, on the phone or deep in conversation with one another.
The setting is good but the shops really disappoint

We popped into here for a look around. I remember it being quite good many years back, but when we visited recently we left feeling rather disappointed. The shops where either overpriced or just dull.

I tried to post a review about the tea rooms being inaccessible but unfortunately Trip Advisor have said that as we were unable to visit the tea rooms we can not leave a review - the whole point of the review was to make sure people realise that this Shopping Village is not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, the elderly or infirm
Also the parking is on a very steep incline so make sure you put your brakes on!

Is the country shopping centre within walking distance of lichfield train station
Written 15 November 2015
Hello,
Heart of the Country's rural location is accessible via the A38, just south of Lichfield. Walking is not recommended as the road can be busy and there is currently no footpath that leads directly to the Village.
