Love this Theatre it's a great layout once inside. However, my Wife who is disabled wasn't aware there was a lift to reach the Theatre as whatever seats you have (Our's were on the front row) they are all accessed via a set of stairs. My Wife was struggling to slowly climb the stairs, when the Usher at the top, a Lady in her 60's was already asking for our tickets from our phone. I told her she would have to wait until my Wife had managed to get to the top. She could have instead pointed out that there was a lift. Then on to the seats. They are a certain size and my Wife struggled to fit into the seat. Lucky we were on the front row and on the isle seat as it would have been even more uncomfortable than it was. Not sure keeping the bar open the whole way through a show is the best thing to do as there was a constant flow of people, particularly 18 year old's who were in and out blocking the view. Felt sorry for an older disabled couple who had also obviously booked the front row for the view and access that couldn't see a thing once all the young kids decided to come infront of them to the stage. It should be one or the other, tell the audience in advance they can get up to dance and that front row view's for the disabled may be obstructed or tell the audience to respect the view of the front row. Found several of the older Usher's to be a little arrogant in some circumstances throughout our visit. There was one younger one who seemed to be higher up that advised us about the disabled toilets but on the whole they seemed quite snobby. We will always return to this Theatre for relevant shows, but next time will realise there is a lift and also plan for the small sized seats, especially if you have disibility needs.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2024
- MouldyDave23 contributionsTwelfth Night is a Brilliantly Entertaining and Funny ShowSo, ….. I agree with the majority of views when it comes to to a critique of The Gatehouse; it’s a terrific venue with lots of great shows and we locals are very lucky to have this on our doorstep. I also agree that some of the ushers are absolutely amazing and others might benefit from a bit of training. This review is wholly focused on the production of The Twelfth Night. This is a terrific production and unique in its approach to presenting this show as a Cornish tale. It sticks to Shakespeare’s script but in Cornish accents (well nearly Cornish!). It works really well with the audience chuckling or outright belly laughing all the way through. Seann Walsh is particularly brilliant but so too are the rest of the cast. Seann proves beyond doubt that he’s much more than a stand up comedian. If you like to be pulled up on to the stage, I recommend that you sit on the front row and wear an England football jersey. Oh, how I wish I had tried to be inconspicuous and blend in!!!!!!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 June 2024
- Tracy H1 contributionDad's 80th birthday giftI got tickets for the Shakespeare Twelfth Night for my father who turned 80 today. We also ordered the Cornish cream tea and we were made to feel very special with our own waitress and table set up in the writer's room. The whole experience was wonderful.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 June 2024

- Tracy T1 contributionUpbeat BeatlesWent to see Upbeat Beatles.. Very good. Great night out. Bit of a note to the Theatre itself.. No where near enough seats in the bar and cafe area for popular shows. Plenty of spare tables but no seats.. Didn't even look like other tables had taken them so they had extra.. Just a lack of them .. Quite an older crowd for the show so although we were OK not good for others ☹️..Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 July 2024

Had bought tickets for Joel Dommett which was due to take place on Saturday 2nd April. The show was then re-arranged for Wednesday 20th April after having already bought the tickets. We were unable to make the event and tried to get a refund but were informed that tickets are non-refundable despite the date of the event being changed by the venue.

My great granddaughter's first panto and couldn't have been a more magical experience. The costumes, special effects (particularly the coach and horse) were excellent. In particular we loved Buttons but all the actors and dancers were great. A lovely treat not far from home. Well done to all involved.

Shall be boycotting the Gatehouse. Cancelled a sold out show for ‘health & safety’ reasons. Just shows said show was rebooked for Stafford Octagon and guess what there were no issues!
The show was brilliantly funny and they will rebook next year for another sold out show! Keeping people in jobs.

Disgraceful behaviour, caved in and cancelled a show that had sold out leaving many people out of pocket due to travel costs and hotel rooms having been booked. And you didn’t even have the courtesy to tell the act concerned.
Will not be visiting again!

Thought I'd booked tickets for a show in January. Tried to set up an account on their online system, no luck. Every time I tried to log in, wrong password, every time I tried to reset, wrong password. I'll just have to go elsewhere to see shows, i suppose :-(

Brilliant!!! Just went on-line last minute to see what was on at the Theatre noticed this comedy night, ten pounds per person complete bargain. Laughed from start to finish three comedians doing the Midlands circuit apparently different comedians each month. Full house well worth the money can't wait for next month!!!!!!

My parents have some mobility issues and require seats on the end of an isle with not too many steps in order to access them. Where would the best area be please?
