- Col from DarloStafford, United Kingdom53 contributionsA disappointing day outVisited with younger family members, having not been for a few years. On arriving in the courtyard, I was disappointed to see no animals where once they used to be in the pens. The bakery, which was also in the courtyard, had disappeared as well as several other shops. We then went to the main entrance and realised the bakery was now merged with a butchers and deli. The bakery section was not as varied as before and was very overpriced. We then went through an empty room with go karts and then into a little shop with a gate where we were charged a lot of money to enter, which was more expensive for children. We found some lovely animals with the odd play area for children, but most things were £2 for children to play on. We then went back to have a bacon sandwich only to be told they had stopped serving hot food at 2.30 when the place clearly closed at 4.30! While sitting with a coffee and chocolate staff were noisily putting chairs away and vacuuming! The staff in the café were not particularly friendly. What had happened to the lovely restaurant and the craft shop....? All in all a disappointing visit and won't be returning sadly.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 February 2024
- Inspiration6008079 contributionsEnjoyable morning outGood morning out for the family. Kids (3) loved playing in the sandpit and on the play equipment. They had loads of fun in the indoor play too. Some maintenance needed as half the toilet door locks were broken but aside from that there were no problemsVisited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 March 2024
- Tony D5 contributionsGone downhill since last visitOverall very disappointed. Enjoyed days in the past but it has really gone downhill due to general lack of maintenance. No supervision in the play barn so bigger kids throwing soft play toys around in the small child play areas, and soft play items being carried through the cafe! Very few animals that all looked a bit sad. Ground outside full of holes that could easily break an ankle! Sorry Amerton, won't be returningVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 August 2024
- lj1964United Kingdom8 contributionsAwful visitVery disappointing visit , no interaction from what little staff were around and very few animals to see !! The barn cafe was a complete joke , prices average but awful food !!! Ordered a child’s meal and a toastie for adult , both served in a small square burger box and plonked on the table !!! Opened toastie and looked like it had been thrown in !! Must have used the thinnest bread in history and the filling was virtually none exsistant !! Couldn’t bring myself to complain as the lone woman serving was having her break and sitting in the cafe with her back to us . My grandsons meal comprised of 4 anaemic looking chicken nuggets and few chips I had to ask for some beans or peas to go with it ! The place is going downhill fast , won’t be going there again unless it alters 😩😩Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 September 2024
- Nat10026Telford, United Kingdom74 contributionsMagical Christmas ExperienceWow! What an amazing Christmas experience from start to finish. My 6 year old daughter said it was the best she’d ever seen. We enjoyed a few hours at the playbarn and outside seeing the animals. They have pulled out all the stops for the Christmas experience, it was truly magical! Will definitely be recommending to others and be back next year.Visited December 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2024

We visited with out just turned 3 year old and 8 month old today, I was aware that with it being Easter I would expect it to be busy but the indoor playbarn was ridiculous. My husband made a joke that it was like a blood bath, whilst we were in there we saw 3 children all with cuts that were bleeding, one which required first aid. Alot of the issues where down to parents simply not parenting there children, there was a group of older lads being ridiculously Rough, on busier days like this I would highly recommend staff doing floor walks or limiting the number that come in, you couldn't even get a table and there were so many just standing up. Our 3 year old got knocked over several times.
The outside has had a lot of work done since we visited 2 years ago and our son loved the bouncy castle bit and the sandpit aswell as the animals, we were able to watch the lambs being born and bottle feed some older lambs which was amazing.
The whole layout has gone a bit odd having to go through the shop to get in, the staff at the deli were very young, polite enough but could maybe do with a bit more training and social skills.
There is very much an element of being sold to here with alot of pay on rides and hot tub sales?
We had a good day and I didn't particularly mind the price but we were only there for 2 hours as it was just too busy to stay.

I have been to Amerton Farm many times before and had a lovely time. This time was a little different unfortunately.
We paid for entry to the indoor and outdoor areas due to there being no where else for food, and we had promised the kids some lunch, once inside I glanced over the allergy list to find my son who has a dairy and soya allergy could basically eat chips or crisps.
After eating our chips we went outside as the indoor area was too hot with minimal ventilation. Once outside we went for a walk around the animals to be told the walk was closed for the tractor ride at half 2. At this point it was 2pm, we had purchased some feed for the animals but were unable to use it as the walk did not reopen before we left at 4pm. We were not informed when purchasing out tickets that the walk would be closed for so long. Our boys enjoyed the sand, the bouncing pillow and the tractors but I feel a few little tweaks would have improved our day.

Took my 3 year old granddaughter and her 3 year old friend. The website said it was £8.99 admission for children. I paid £12.99 and was told it was 'peak time' as it was school holidays. Most children went back to school the same day but these two little ones aren't even school age. They make their own rules up! I found the farm to be quite small and not many animals. The children enjoyed the trampolines.
The toilets were dirty and some didn't flush. Lock on the door was broken and I think there should be small sinks and lower hand dryers, considering they have a lot of children visiting. Just a thought on how to improve. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Visited for the Halloween event and disappointed. Nothing was going on for the event at all besides a few pumpkins placed in a small part of the field. Additional charge for any pumpkins outside the 1 you get included in the child’s £20 ticket.
Tractor ride quite dull, just saw a run down fairy thing and the animals we’d already seen whilst walking around, my child asked when we could get off. Very few animals to see, play barn feels tired. Unfortunately didn’t come across a staff member anywhere that seemed they wanted to be there really.
Better farms around the area making much more effort for a similar price.

Generally a very good day but we badly planned our trip and due to the bad weather there was limitations on what we could do. Rocking up after 10am but not seeing the big man until 2pm was an issue. The indoor play area is decent but when there are "children" running around at ridiculous speeds who are the same height as me (I'm over 6ft tall), then there is an issue for my 4 and 1 year old.
Some equipment also needs repaired.
The grotto was very cool, a good job here.
The staff are awesomely friendly and helpful. The site itself is very cool but we will save future trips for the Summer only. We will be back though.

We visited today, bank holiday Monday, for the first time in over 6 years and we were very happy. We didn’t realise that you now had to pay to get into the farm and play area, however we didn’t mind as we know the money goes into caring and feeding the animals and there is plenty to do for little ones.
It was £4.99 per adult and £10 per child (£4.99 per child without the indoor play). My daughter had a lovely 30-40 minutes walking around feeding the sheep, alpaca and goats etc.
There were also horses, pigs donkeys and pony’s that you can interact with as well as a tractor ride, bounce areas and l sand pit. We paid the extra £5 for our daughter to play in the indoor area and this was relatively clean (compared to some indoor play areas) and wasn’t too busy. Our daughter even got a chance to feed the lambs which was wonderful as i remember feeding lambs at Amerton as a child myself so brought back a lot of happy memories.
All in all a great day out for just over £20 plus a little extra for food and drink. Maybe take a picnic if you want to keep cost to a minimum.

This could be a lovely day out but I was shocked when it cost £34 just to enter the play area for 2 adults and 3 children. We’d booked pottery painting, again another shock that we had to pay well over the odds for this compared to the many other local pottery painting places. We managed to buy 3 ice creams and spent £100 in total - far more than we would normally pay for this kind of thing elsewhere!

Having never visited before, therefore having no comparison as mentioned in some of the reviews, I was really pleasantly surprised.
We bypassed the shop area, heading straight for the courtyard and the farm, so I can’t comment on this.
All staff we came across were friendly and helpful.
The animals were varied as per expectation of this type of farm, and we interacted with all areas. You can purchase feed for £1 per bag which is suitable for all the animals aside horses and lambs.
We went on the little tractor/trailer ride and it was good because not only is it included in the gate price but gives you a nice overview of the farm area if you couldn’t get close to the animals on foot.
Our son also enjoyed the bouncing pillows in the outside area which are really well maintained and safe. We also had a fun time on the go karts.
The indoor play area was brilliant. Plenty of activities and I would like to add that the staff working here are excellent! They keep the place clean, tidy, and do it with a smile. Well done to all staff on duty today. The toilets were also to a good standard, but I do think would likely benefit from another baby change area, or large cubicle for changing of toddlers.
I actually feel that the entry price is very reasonable. To keep the animals, maintain the premises, pay the staff, maintain the indoor play etc. I would have NO hesitation in paying this fee again.
If I could offer one piece of constructive criticism it would be that bin type situated around the park could be better, because the wind had clearly taken rubbish out of some of the bins, which isn’t aesthetically pleasing but I also would worry that an animal could be harmed.
Otherwise, really enjoyable day out and plenty to do for a good few hours.
Will definitely be back, thank you to everyone at Amerton Farm and keep up the good work.

Very disappointed it was a very hot day and the animals needed water.
There should of been someone attending to them. The small goats couldn't even reach there water.
We did report this. The lady radioed to tell someone but this should not have happened.
Thought the animals were to spread out very difficult to walk on the paths with large stones and pushing a pushchair.
The animals didn't try to come up to us which made this un interesting.
Since this has changed hands in my opinion has gone down in every way it cost us over 30 to get in.
Billy barn farm was very hard to keep an eye on your child. Big children in the under 2s only.
Very sorry but I'm taking my grandchildren to Haughton ice cream farm much better venue and doesn't cost a penny.
You can buy some food for the animals and they love it.
The bird sanctuary is a small cost but very informative and the children get to see the birds up close.
Sorry amerton but you need to make the venue a more enjoyable place.

Watch when you have a meal deal becus when you order they say there are hidden costs. Like 4 traditional meal deals a jar of honey and box of jaffa cake £54.90 was ripped off has meal deal was advertised at £5.50 and then you told £6 for a traditional pasty. So be aware of this scam. OK I expect about cost going up but please explain to how a meal deal consisting of 1 x pasty 1 x cake 1x pop you have two prices one of £5 for normal and £5.50 for traditional meal deal. I purchased yesterday 2/6/24 2 x lamb and mint traditional pasty and 1 x chicken tika and 1x large saucege roll 1x custard slice 1 x cream horn 2 x eclears 4 x pop 1 x box 1kg jaffa cakes £4.50 1x jar of honey £6.95 so please explain to me how this came to £54.90. It was a bold headed man that served me. Becus I can not work it out.

What’s the café like since the refurb, eg prices, quality, waiting time to be served (ordering), loos, staff...?
Also do you have to pay the general entrance fee to go only to the café?
Written 3 June 2018
We were quite happy with our visit to the cafe. We enjoyed a sandwich with chips, which were served within a very reasonable time. The prices were in keeping with many other cafes that we have visited. No charges for entrance to the cafe.
Written 21 June 2018
On 25/09/17 "Stacey L" stated about general entrance fees of £1.99 for an adult and £5.99 per child. On speaking to some current staff they say no such charge exists, the only entrance fee that applies is the Playbarn charge (£4.50/child). Others have also told me this general entrance fee to the site has been introduced. What is the true situation please??

Is there a lot of walking, if so is there plenty of seating?
What does the restaurant have to offer and is it reasonably priced?
Written 19 February 2017
not a lot of walking as long as you can park near the entrance. excellent value for money. seating is best at cafe.
Written 7 March 2017
The indoor playbarn was £4.50 during half term week for children over 3, other than that think it is £4.00 any other time. Think under 3 years of age are free.
