Founded on the site of an earlier church in around 1190, St Mary's is the largest church in the town, containing a unique Byzantine font (older than the church itself)and beautiful stonework. From the glorious East Window, to the most recent addition of the Lotus Shoe Window (dedicated in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen in March 2005), St Mary's has a lot to offer in the heart of Stafford.

Took a good long walk round Stafford whilst waiting for my car to be serviced and what a great afternoon. Lived here for 18 years and still have some undiscovered treasures. This is a beautiful church and I can't believe I haven't been here before. If you get the chance, go and spend a bit of time here.

Saint Marys is centrally placed, but retains an air of calm and peace. The volunteers are very helpful and knowledgeable. The interior has a lot of interest around the church. The first thing to catch your eye is the wonderful selection of hassocks or kneelers. All of the hassocks, bar one, are different, being beautifully worked into different designs and... More

A beautiful piece of religious history in the centre of town, open to the public for quiet reflection as well as having services taking place. The surroundings and grounds surrounding the church are peaceful.

Popped in on a cold January morning and pleasantly surprised. Impressive looking internal architecture, windows & kneeler cushions. Greeted by 2 very friendly and helpful people who gave us some background to the church and the story behind the impressive looking kneeler cushions. Also a small section on Izaak Walton. Certainly worth a detour off the Main Street.

A small walk from the Main Street. This is a perfect church to either photograph, sketch or paint. Maybe even step inside for and sing song.

The atmosphere here is relaxing, plenty of benches around to sit and just enjoy a nice rest. The Church is an absolutely beautiful building in the heart of Stafford, well worth a visit.

Perhaps the oldest building in Stafford, it dominates the local area, and I would have marked higher if it had been open

An excellent personal welcome from the steward on duty. Able to confirm the important aspects of the building to see. Great stained glass, and interesting monuments. Nice to see a church used by the local community. Well worth visiting.

It's a historic church which has a very relaxing vibe about it. Could be that the weather was nice but I found it a good place to rest and chill for a while
