I first came here two weeks ago for lunch having heard good reviews. There weren't many people in however we wait a good half hour for the food to be served. When it finally arrived it looked very nice but my Panini was cold, when it should have been hot. Still I was prepared to overlook this as even though cold it tasted very nice. We decided to give the café another go today - oh dear wish we hadn't bothered. I had arranged to meet my sister there for lunch so she had already ordered when I arrived. My drink was there, hers wasn't. When the lunches arrived we had to ask again for the drink, It says that the paninis come with salad - there wasn't any. Still at least the Panini was warm this time. We decided to have a piece of cake as they looked really nice. Ordered two slices of cake, the waitress brought the wrong cake. Wished we had stuck with the wrong cake. She brought the correct cake, however when we started to eat it, it was inedible it was supposed to be coconut and raspberry, it is quite possibly the worst cake I have ever tasted. We took it back and said it was inedible. No offer of replacement cake or even offered a refund. After today will definitely go elsewhere.

Arrived a few minutes early, so we had drinks at the bar and pre ordered our drinks for the interval. The theatre is great. The sound and the performances were perfect. This was an amateur show but was brilliantly put together.

Purchased a groupon voucher for cheeseboard afternoon treat. Wow , what a lovely treat it was. There was a selection of 6 different kinds of cheese, warm crusty bread, biscuits and crackers plus butter, different pickles, olives and homemade coleslaw.. That was followed by scones with butter, jam and clotted cream. That's not all .... Next was 2 small cakes with plenty of cream on top. Mmmm was all delicious. There was also as much tea or coffee as we wanted. We will certainly be back, they have a menu that consists of sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes just to name a few and all reasonably priced.

Had a groupon voucher for afternoon tea for four and we were really impressed with the amount and quality of the food (most of the cakes were homemade)! We ended up asking for a container so we could take some of the cakes home that we couldn't eat. Staff very helpful and friendly.

What a lovely surprise. 4 friends went to the Spitfire Cafe at the Mitchell Theatre, and it was fabulous. Beautifully prepared and presented, sandwiches, scones and cakes. Wonderful value for money, served by smiling, cheerful staff. Would certainly go again and would highly recommend the afternoon tea. Excellent value for money, and on a very hot day, the cafe was air conditioned !! Loved the crockery with the spitfire on it.
