    Perfect Family night out!
Thank you for a lovely evening with the family. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant; bollito misto, described as boiled meats, turned out to be a tasty ragout of sausage and lentils with very fresh asparagus, broccoli and foccacia, my daughter's aromatic pork cheek choice was also amazing. We were tight for time, so the restaurant staff boxed dessert to go and we took it upstairs to eat on a comfy couch while watching Guardians of the Galaxy. We come from Colchester, so it was a 50 minute drive, but we were able to park right outside the cinema for free which made the whole evening feel very stress free. I love your cinema! Looking forward to our next trip.

    Sticky fingers!
We love the Abbeygate Cinema and very much enjoyed watching a film on the new larger screen last week. However, we were disappointed with the level of cleanliness in some areas, e.g. the handrail on the stairs up to small screens was very sticky as was the handplate on the gents toilet. This is something we hadn't experienced before so hopefully it was just a one-off.

    We love this cinema
What a hidden gem this cinema is. You can eat before or after your film, in the restaurant. You can take your favourite tipple into the showing. There is a take in menu should you want that too. The sweet selection is very good though a little pricey, no pick and mix options. They also have fresh cakes available It is lovely and clean and the staff are polite and efficient Fabulous

    Love this place
We regularly have date nights here and sometimes call in for coffee and cake in the day. The bar area is spacious. Thestaff are lovely. We like to book a settee, buy a drink and snacks, and snuggle up together for a home-style film experience with great surround sound. Clientele here tend to be quiet and respectful of space. I'd like more arty films brutally in all we sport this place whenever we can.

This was the most unenjoyable cinema experience of my life and I have been going for 30 plus years! The temperature inside the theatre was unbearably warm, it was like watching a movie in a steam room. My girlfriend had been going to this cinema for years and told me how nice it was but she had to keep apologising about how bad it was on this occasion. If they had a fault with their climate control they should have given people the option to watch the movie at another time. When we came out there with our clothing stuck to our skin there was conveniently no staff around to address our complaint. I did outline our complaint on their customer service portal, but I have not received as much as a sorry. Save your money avoid this cinema and go to a modern theatre with decent working climate control with staff & owners that value their customers.

What a find! We really enjoyed the film and cinema set out with very comfy reclining chairs and sofas at the sides. The variety of food and drink was great too. Only 1 moan! The air con was aimed directly at me so was freezing! Would definitely go again if we are in the area.

Held a wonderful book launch event in the new function room. Great facilities and a good vibe in the room. Large screen for entertainment/presentations and some cinemas seats if you want them. There was a wide range of buffet food options which also dealt with allergies. Must mention the leek and parmesan tarts and the incredible chocolate brownies. Laura was really helpful in arranging and making it a day to remember. All staff very helpful and eager to please.

Wow, what a superb asset this venue is to Bury St. Edmunds. We were greeted by friendly staff in the vibrant box office coffee lounge, maybe there was alcohol available too? Certainly there were seats for our chosen film. We bought settee/sofa tickets and fatty treats of Wine Gums and Minstrels then headed on up to screen 1.
Now this isn't a Leicester Square type cinema... it was modest, clean, warm and comfortable. The double seat even had cushions!
The background music was not imposing, the adverts inspired good sound and image then the main event started. Safe but decent darkness descended, the image size altered and we immersed in an enjoyable experience (Allelujah starring Jennifer Saunders, Derek Jacobi and Russell Tovey).
Absolutely no complaints, I cannot recommend highly enough this gem of a quaint, real cinema against the modern, plastic chains (who do have their place for sure).
Well done to all at Abbeygate Cinema, Bury St. Edmunds.
