Thank you for such good feedback. Our museum has recently been refurbished using Arts Council money and we have introduced many interactive experiences. Glad you had an opportunity to try out the archery!

The site has been wonderfully developed since last visiting in 2006. The site is more accessible, the museum is really well laid out and contains lots of information in bite size chunks. I really liked the Saxon word translation boards. There are more huts in...More

We arrived at the Anglo Saxon village quite late in the afternoon and had the place practically to ourselves. It was very atmospheric wandering around the old village. The buildings reconstructed using traditional methods and based on archaeological theories are impressive though they are beginning...More

Thank you for your feedback. Our museum has recently been revamped using Arts Council money but we rely on public subsidy via the Borough Council to maintain the Anglo-Saxon Village. Glad you enjoyed the Village and appreciated staff efforts.

Owned by the council and reasonable entry fee. The museum was good but it was the outdoor reconstructions that I liked best. They had several different versions of an Anglo Saxon house. I believe it is experimental archeology. It made me think and try to...More

Thank you for your comments. You are correct that all our reconstructions are built with experimental archaeology and if we have made you think, then we have achieved a good result!

The setting is good and the idea sound, but the exhibits inside and out are looking rather tired and out-of-date in terms of display. The best bit was the explanatory film shown at the start of the visit. Otherwise, there are some display cases containing...More

Lovely visit as we were staying nearby. We didnt go into the visitor centre as we had the dog with us. We followed the walks which were great . Lots to see and great views of the lake and old Victorian pumping station. Recommended.

Thank you for recommending a visit to our Country Park so positively. The 125 acres has many different habitats, including heathland, lake and river which is now home to our unique Beowulf and Grendel trail.
