Con artists!
My son and his friend applied for jobs here as they were walking past one day and there was a sign in the window looking for staff. I understand this place is currently closed and apparantly undergoing refurbishment, as my son and his friend were initially taken on to help renovate, with a view to working there once reopened. However, they have been completely messed about, hardly given any shifts, any attempts to reach out by my son and his friend have been completely ignored for the majority of this month, and they have not been paid for any of the work they have done. This will be getting reported to the council if not resolved. Disgusting way to treat a couple of young lads just trying to make some money for themselves whilst studying

For a new escape room it is great!
I booked for a stag party and we all loved it...
We arrived at 12 as it was the first slot we could book, We was then told they where running late which is fine, it happens. So we where able to play pool in the waiting room and help ourselves to drinks from the fridge (at £1 a drink, naturally the stag party went for the beer)
Come 12:30 we got to do our game and it was great fun! couldn't fault the game at all. When we finished we went to pay for our drinks and where given them for free which was a massive bonus and on top of that we was even offered a free trial of a new escape room they are creating.
We would come back again as it was great and reasonable prize, how ever needs to work on its organisation but they make up for it in friendliness.

We loved this, really fun activity to do as a group. Some of the puzzles were infuriating and some of them were really really easy. The guy working there took a lot of pity on us luckily or we’d still be hanging out with King Tut 😬
We went for drinks afterwards and found we were finding sand everywhere so maybe don’t wear your best clothes or have anywhere nice planned for after it!

We arrived at the escape rooms to find they'd double booked somehow. He couldn't explain how it happened but it meant we had to wait nearly an hour to go in. We had come to Newcastle for a hen do so we're dissatisfied with the start. The escape rooms was good but nothing special apart from the little games before. When we were in they did not keep track of time (I had a smart watch on so did it myself) they said we had 30 minutes only to say 10 minutes later we had 10 minutes left. We were clearly rushed out as they'd fitted us in between other parties. I emailed and asked if we could have at least a part refund and Nathan was very good at first then never replied. I wouldn't come back and question there organisation really.

Had a good time but wasn't as keen on this versus other escape rooms as it wasn't as immersive or joined-up. It was fun to earn clues but then it wasn't up to us when we used them (and when I asked how many we had left the gamesmaster didn't know, so it turned out to be a bit pointless!). Didn't regret going - possibly just a personal preference for more the traditional style of an escape room.

It was class, and for not being fully complete yet it was amazing and I’d fully recommend to anyone.

We visited the Middlesbrough escape room on this occasion after enjoying the Newcastle one previously. And boro didn’t fail to impress!! The lads/staff were great, really friendly, super helpful especially with the 7 (11/12year olds) who were doing it & in the heat too... my mam had to take my place due to circumstances & it’s safe to say she wasn’t keen on the idea of it at all! But came out amazed & was surprised herself how much she enjoyed it! Sadly they didn’t quite “ESCAPE” in time but they enjoyed every second of it! And can’t wait to go back & beat it. Would highly recommend, super safe especially with what’s going on. Throughly enjoyable, brilliantly different.

How long it take to solve the puzzles?

They gave you about 5 minutes for each challenge and then 20-30 minutes for the main room.

Is there minimum number for participants? I'm confused by the per person rate, with up to 12 participants - does that mean you might be in a team with strangers?
Hi, you won't be in a team with strangers but we do need at least 2 people to a team, hope this helps!

Loving the sound of this but wondering if it would still be as enjoyable if it's just 2 people, as most of the reviews are from groups?

I’m sure it would be but I’m not sure what their policy is in terms of numbers probably a good idea to give them a call and see. Some of the photos on their Facebook page show two people teams so I would think knits possible.

I'm a bit chubby and not the fittest of people....family visited recently and report it's quite physical with walls to climb, tightropes to cross and tunnels to negotiate. Would I find this a challenge? I want to go here but not if it makes me look an absolute plonker.... I manage that by myself :p

Hello!
Thanks for enquiring about Never Give up Newcastle.
The different challenges are split between physical, mental and skill games. If you feel you are not up for the physical games (not everyone is) then you could play the mental and skill games instead? Like the Crystal Maze, people within a team have strengths in different areas so I bet you will be amazing at the skill and mental games perhaps? If you want to try the physical game, they are not designed for a high level of fitness so I still think you will be ok playing them? You could be the team captain- REMEMBER NEVER GIVE UP!
Best wishes
Chris
