About
Murton Equestrian Centre is a fully licensed, BHS and ABRS approved, family run riding school in Tyne & Wear. Established in 1976, we pride ourselves in offering quality riding lessons every day but a Monday, in a safe and relaxed environment, for adults and children over 2yrs. Situated a short drive from Whitley Bay and Newcastle Upon Tyne, we have ample parking and are perfectly placed for local transport links. We offer private lessons, group lessons and activities to all ages and abilities of rider.

Both my daughter and myself ride at Murton. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Well schooled horses. The school runs both private and group lessons that cater for all abilities. My daughter enjoys the jump and go competitions that they run.
Would highly recommend a trip to Murton Equestrian Centre.

Friendly family run riding school. The horses are well schooled and the instructors extremely knowledgeable. Every level of rider is catered for and made to feel very welcome. Relaxed atmosphere whilst having a lesson. Both my daughter and myself ride here and highly recommend it. My daughter practically likes the jump and go competitions that the school runs.

Finally plucked up the courage to fulfill a childhood dream at the age of 46 & booked my first riding lesson. I cannot praise this place enough. The staff are extremely friendly, approachable, knowledgable & quickly put me at ease. I started with private lessons to learn the basics before joining a weekly evening class. This is the highlight of my week. The atmosphere is relaxed and everyone in the group encourages each other. The summer evening hacks are amazing! There are lots of opportunities to take part in events such as dressage & jumping in an informal setting. The 'own your own horse' days are not to be missed. I would highly recommend Murton Equestrian Centre.

I go here for lessons every weekend and it's amazing! The instructors give you great advice, help you gain confidence and help you become a better rider. The horses and ponies are well mannered and they always match you up with a horse or pony that suits your ability. I really wish this centre would get recognised more as it really is amazing, it's also a Pony Club UK linked centre.

Disappointing party for my daughter. We booked party as my daughter loves horses , It was a letdown and 30 minutes ride on pony and then left with the young volunteer girls with some scruffy brushes to groom the pony’s . No party atmosphere. Only wished we hadn’t booked this .

Really enjoyed my lesson this morning with David Wright. I have hacked out most of my life & Murton have taken me back to basics and now I am much more confident and at 65 years old I'm even enjoying jumping. Exceptional & friendly tuition. If everyone feels as happy as I do every time I ride at Murton then they have very happy clients. Horses = Happiness

I have had a fantastic lesson today with Kristina. She took her time to explain to me how I could improve and gave hugely confidence boosting feedback. I ride there regularly and all the instructors I have had have been excellent. I ride in an adults group and we usually have Anna as our instructor and she also is confidence boosting. The horses are wonderful and very well looked after. All in all a five stars establishment

What a find was recommended by a friend , my son always been in to horses and this has to be the best place ever , every person who has give him a lesson has been so amazing with instructions and so encouraging, honestly can’t praise it enough

My daughter has just started riding and Pony Club here and loves it so I decided I would try the “adult own a pony day” and had a brilliant time- it was a great refresher for me and the group was a lovely mix of abilities.
The yard has a friendly atmosphere, is very well organised and professionally run. All the horses are well cared for and a pleasure to be around- I hadn’t realised how much I had missed being around horses until today! I can’t wait to do more of the activities on offer and will be recommending the yard to anyone who will listen!
