Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The “Beyond the Moor Festival” was superbly organised. The food on offer was both healthy and delicious; the posters were attractive and the acts were a real celebration of musical talent both in the North East and farther afield. We loved being on the front row with tables for drinks.
I also want to congratulate the GCT for the clearly labelled toilets with paper towels, mixer taps, nice hand wash, baby change mat, small stool for children to reach basin and potted plants. All this spoke to me silently of your care for your customers.
Well done to all those involved!

Had an hour to kill so called in for a coffee. Bit pricey at £3 for an unremarkable smallish coffee. Chap who served me not unpleasant but not exactly welcoming. A bit glum. Food menu is expensive in my opinion. £2.50 for sourdough toast but £2 more to add eggs for example! I think this is chain prices without the quality or ambiance. Better options not so far away. Quite surprised there were a few people in.

I attended a terrific musical event called “Beyond the Moor “. This was a festival of folk music lasting from 1pm till 11 pm at Gosforth Civic Theatre – 2 mins walk away from the Regent Centre metro & easily accessible by bus from the city. The music was brilliant. The short gaps between acts allowed us to chat to friends and speak to musicians. They had two stalls outside as the volume of people needing tea was large. I can’t wait to go back to experience other events so I have brought a brochure home. Keep up the good work, Bernard and your team! All the best, Suzanne

Lush little garden for after work drinks. The cafe has a new food menu since we last had food and it is amazing. We’ve been to some great gigs here too

We use the civic theatre quite a bit and it is usually excellent - cafe, drink, service and entertainment and would usually thoroughly recommend. However, today we visited at 9.15am for breakfast, after walking for some considerable time in the rain with our children. The doors were locked, while we stood in the rain (for some time) we finally managed to get the attention of a member of staff, only to be told that they wouldn’t be opening until 10am due to a gig the night before. I think it is really important that independent venues stick to their hours and support customers at all times in the day.

Visited for a bluegrass gig (bought the tickets online). We took an uber and paid £6 from city centre. Friendly staff and well run event. Bar was very reasonably priced and accepted card and Apple Pay. Clean facilities. Enjoyable gig!

This was the first time I had visited the theatre and I was pleasantly surprised. I took my 2 granddaughters aged 5 and 3 to see a Christmas presentation especially aimed at young kids. We all enjoyed it very much so well done the cast of Jack Frost. In addition we were greatly impressed by the theatre, the small cafe and being wheelchair dependent, the ease of entry etc.
