About
From December 1st 2023 ALL tours will meet at the lovely Societe Cafe on Grey Street. Tours will no longer continue to meet at Grey's Monument due to disruption from the Christmas market and weekend demonstrations. Newcastle has a fascinating history, missed by many visitors. Allow me to remedy that by taking you on a tour of the best, and most interesting, historical landmarks in the city.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a fantastic experience. Rob is very welcoming, incredibly knowledgable and a great storyteller. I have been living in Newcastle for a month, and it was a great way to learn about the city's history. It really brought the streets to life. Highly recommend!

Rob was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He shared interesting tales at each stop. Our only complaint was that we chose the coldest afternoon of the year to do the tour! Highly recommended.

Very interesting and informative tour. Some small anecdotes which a visitor may never come across on his own. Recommended as first thing to do when visiting Newcastle. Rob very learned and able for all questions.

Eventually got round to using a Christmas gift card today and joining Rob on a Red Beard tour. Even with the rain and the cold Rob made this tour, to a born and bred ‘Geordie’, well worth the wait. His knowledge of Newcastle is immense and his delivery makes all of his facts easy to listen to and very entertaining. Thanks Rob for a good day out and will definitely recommend you to others.

Rob was so welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic about Newcastle and its history. He's a skilled and knowledgeable researcher and shared engaging stories. The tour was well planned out and very accessible. Included a diverse array of perspectives, topics and historical snapshots from throughout history. Also good for discovering gems such as restaurants in the city to return to later.

We met Rob in the centre of Newcastle today. We learnt about the history, the architecture and the notable people who previously lived in the city from the Romans to Dire Straits. We thoroughly enjoyed Robs tour of the sights which was presented in a fun and informative way. Highly recommend if you've got a spare couple of hours!

Great tour but would ask for more walking (in exchange for less detailed information perhaps) to cover more of the city next time.
