Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I came to Newcastle to photograph the 'other' cathedral, and finished up photographing two! St Mary's is a lovely cathedral, not as old as many, with a simple basic structure, but an interesting amount of detail. I enjoy the stained glass, the floor mosaics, the stations of the cross, and the frieze of saints' names around the walls. The organ looks spectacular in its raised position. And Pope Francis is welcoming as one approaches! This is a good space in which to pray, reflect or worship. I find it interesting that Catholic cathedrals seldom seem to have 'welcomers': I have always thought this to be a productive and helpful ministry. The cathedral does have a café, but I don't investigate this.

St. Mary's is a beautiful cathederal, lots of work has been done recently to renevate and modernise it.The stained glass windows both old and new are stunning. My grandparents were married there in 1910 and family members have attended on and off over the years and saw the changes as they happened.Priests and staff are very welcoming and the church is open every day unless work is under way.Enjoy a visit and see for yourselves.

Simple but good menu choice. Soup was excellent and service friendly and prompt. A relaxing place to grab lunch minutes away from the train station.

There is a real sense of welcome when you go into this Roman Catholic Cathedral. It is open all day long, has daily Mass and there is a cafe/restaurant and a bookshop to explore. You can light candles, say prayers, sit quietly or go to a service.

Always made to feel welcome at the mid-day mass.
The cathedral is stunning a beautiful crucifix hangs before the altar.
The stained glass windows to the front and side of the cathedral are as beautiful in dim candlelight as they are in daylight.
At All Souls day candles can be purchased and names df loved ones placed on them to remember them to adorn steps.
The cathedral has a well stocked gift shop and a pleasant cafe too.

My Mam's Mam got married here many years ago, but my Mam found it almost unrecognisable due to the changes to the courtyard area. We sat through a service and although not religious found it very humbling.

We were visiting Newcastle for a few hours and were able to walk to the Cathedral. It is has a beautiful interior and the walls are painted in yellow, red and green. The stained glass is beautiful and with the sunlight streaming though it is a lovely place for quiet reflection. We visited the coffee shop and enjoyed a cup of tea.

I love this Cathedral opposite Newcastle's Central Station. The windows are lovely, there's a nice coffee shop and gift shop inside also, which makes it a very relaxing place to visit.

This is a beautiful cathedral next to Newcastle centre for life and train station. Looks great inside and it’s unbelievably tall the steeple.
