Great beer, great place, great staff...

The Box Social taproom (attached to the brewery itself) has been open for a year or two now, and really is an essential visit if you like decent beer.

There's always something for everyone (beer-wise) and even a lager if you're that way inclined, although if you ignore everything else and drink the lager, you're missing some of the best beers you'll ever have.

Gentleman's Nectar is a particular crowd pleaser, and is so popular (elsewhere too) that they could make it week in/week out and demand could still outstrip supply!

A personal favourite is their Campfire Porter, a glorious brew featuring Pumprhey's coffee (a local coffee supplier with nearly 250 years of local ties), marshmallow, vanilla and some other magic... comes in at around 7%, but truly is an amazing drink.

Ross and Steve (the owners) are a father/son team who have a real passion for what they do, and that's borne out by the beer they make.

The taproom is open only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 to 21:00, and makes for a great place to have a few decent beers and a bit of craic with the locals sometimes.

If you miss the opening hours, there's also their micro-pub in the centre of Newcastle, behind the Central Station, which has longer hours and a bit more choice on the beer front.

Really like this place - for beer-lovers, those in the know, and for people who enjoy the good things in life. Lovely experience, fantastic staff and tasty beer. If you are visiting, find this hidden gem.

Tiny bar behind the station not he easiest place to find but well worth looking for.
Minimalist decore but nice and warm and clean.
Choice of 14 real ales when we called. Great quality and friendly service. Well priced for city cenre, even hen spirit was served with bottled mixer.
A must for ale drinkers!

Great visit
Jul 2016 • Friends
Visited the brewery today with a 'Wowcher' which was £12.00 for two people including two drinks each. The two guys (father and son) were very friendly and gave a relaxed, informative, tour of the brewery, answering questions easily. It was plain to see that, as well as running the business, they really enjoyed what they were doing and achieving. There was an opportunity to buy beers, and other drinks, and the two 'included' drinks went down well! They have only been going for a year, with tours being introduced recently. This brewery is well worth a visit, for an hour or so, and I wish the guys well for a successful future.
