Cannot recommend this bookshop strongly enough. It's huge, very well organized with a helpful staff, and you can feel good about supporting the hospice as you buy VERY lightly used books. Most of the mysteries I picked up were £2-3 and looked brand new. We were staying at the Mercure Stratford and it was a block and a half from the front door. Don't take books to read while you're in the UK - buy them here!

I no longer live in Stratford but when I go back this is just about the first place I head for. Beautifully displayed books, fantastic selection and diversity, excellent value and lovely staff. If only other charity bookshops could be anything like this!

Genuinely the best cup of tea we had when staying in Stratford - and we went to a number of more expensive places. We loved this tea room and found some wonderful books to buy too. Don't miss this lovely experience if you're in Stratford.

Great charity bookshop, also interesting music room including records, cd's and sheet music. Love the 'found in books' wall art :-)

Its window display of collectable books and old typewriter caught our eye. We decided to check out the shop and discovered it has an amazing vintage and antiquarian books on both floors. It has a big section on Shakespeare and RSC programmes out in the back where's there is a quaint cafe too. Give yourself an hour as it has even more books upstairs, Very easy to lose track of time there!

Really enjoyed looking around this book shop that has such a wide range of books to choose from. Loved the little coffee shop at the back, cold when I visited, but would be lovey to sit outside with a coffee and cake in better weather. This shop deserves much support to raise funds for the Shakespeare Hospice that does so much good work supporting families who have life limiting illness's. I will be visiting again as soon as possible and have told friends about it too.

If you've ever tried to find something to read at a charity shop, you'll know that you'd be lucky to find a book that was published in the last decade. Or that's worth reading in the first place. And that's if you even manage to find what you're looking for amid the disorderly jumble of dog-eared paperbacks arranged neither by subject nor author, much less alphabetically.

Not so at the Shakespeare Hospice Bookshop!

This amazing find -- located just off the high street in the centre of town -- is a treasure trove of pre-loved books in mainly excellent condition and at affordable prices.

Not only that, but the books are professionally displayed and arranged, making it easy to find what you want as well as discover new reads. The children's section, with its selection of modern and classic books arranged by age of reader, is especially impressive. There is also a small table and chairs in the room for kids to read at, freeing up their parents or carers to browse uninterrupted elsewhere in the shop.

To top it all off, there is a comfortable, friendly café on site serving a selection of pastries and beverages, including a very good hot chocolate!

We popped in on a lark one day, stayed for nearly an hour, and left with two armfuls of books without denting the wallet!

I was visiting from London and popped in to see if they had any good quality children's books.
Did they? Did they ever!
Not only was the selection vast (and the prices amazing) but most of the books appeared to be totally unread.
The friendly and knowledgeable staff also do terrific coffee and encourage you to browse and read before you buy.

100% recommend this place.

Exciting and refreshing to see a proper used bookshop. Nice surprise finding it after visiting all the Shakespeare attractions in Stratford. It's a little off the beaten track. Good quality books and even found some rare Sotheby and Bonham auction catalogues there for only £3 per copy. Staff are helpful and friendly. Nice cafe and cozy atmosphere overall. I like that there are plenty of chairs around the shop to encourage you to browse! Hard to find a place like this in this day and age in the USA.
