- Kid B370 contributionsSeeing the Bard where he was born!We saw Macbeth here. Got tickets early, had great seats. Production was creative and very good, the theater is smallish and much like theaters of Shakespeare's day. Great night out.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023
- Stacy CStafford, United Kingdom62 contributionsHelpful staffWe attended the theatre on Wednesday night, having never been here before the staff were so helpful. We spoke to a couple members of staff in order to locate our seats, one particular lady had been kind as to point us to the marble staircase to enhance our experience of the theatre. We watched The box of delights, a good way to start Christmas celebrations.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 November 2023
- Jackie504200Market Bosworth, United Kingdom25 contributionsWill definitely returnWe had excellent seats with plenty of leg room as promised when I booked. My husband is hard of hearing and took advantage of the offer of headphones. That, and the cloakroom, so no sitting surrounded by bulky coats, was free. Every member of staff were so welcoming and helpful. They all made our evening special. The production was great too.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 December 2023
- KC30000England, United Kingdom102 contributionsPerfect visit at ChristmasAs expected this was an enjoyable visit to this beautiful theatre where we saw The Box of Delights. We had great seats providing a good view of the performance made all the more special during the festive season! The staff were all very welcoming and friendly where no question was too small. There is a cafe on site which was surprisingly reasonably priced compared to similar venues. There were also some areas before you entered the theatre where children could interact with props (e.g. trying on their favourite costume), which was a nice touch. A venue of theatrical wonders!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 December 2023
- CORRESONDENT 007New York City, New York11 contributionsWinter Theater heaven!Must go! The ambiance is perfect for a night out. The Merchant of Venice is currently showing and is a masterpiece! The tickets might be sold out, but one can get returned tickets before the show. Dining places across the street, and comfortable seats inside the theater.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 7 February 2024
- hoteljunkie99Emsworth, United Kingdom356 contributionsFull of wondersA Midsummer Night's Dream was wonderful in every sense. An energetic young cast performed the physical stunts required of them with gusto, and the music was excellent. Diction was clear and audible, and costumes were fun and inventive. I'm still thinking about the hologrammic violet, which was extraordinary. There's no escaping the fact that the majority of the audience were in the' older' category', but there were some younger theatre-goers there too. Roll on the next visit.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 February 2024
- AustintoBostonBoston, Massachusetts402 contributionsWorth ItAs an English major, it was definitely on my bucket list to see a production at the Royal Shakespeare Company. We saw Macbeth, which I've read but have never seen on stage. It is definitely a different interpretation of Shakespeare's standard play, but nonetheless a wonderful production. Parts are certainly dense, but that is to be expected. Intermission allows for plenty of time to refill on drinks or snacks.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 3 March 2024
- patsy094Warwick, United Kingdom39 contributionsChoose your seats carefully if you don't want a rotten viewExcellent production of Midsummer Night's Dream, in fact, we went twice! Only thing with RSC Stratford is to be aware of the seating positions, if you don't get in early you can end up with seats at the side and/or high up, we've been to a few performances when the view has been dreadful and impacts on the enjoyment of the performance. I think some of the seats shouldn't really be on sale, or sold at much reduced prices.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 March 2024
- 301lisa33Coventry, United Kingdom2,013 contributionsWell managed venueWell managed venue. Some of the seats are not very comfortable but, in part this is a result of trying to recreate a Tudor-like venue. The show (Midsummers...) was, as always, excellent and very creative Really need more toilets: the queues are too longVisited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 March 2024

I've been to quite a few theatres and this place has to be the best. Staff really friendly and helpful the theatre shop superb and reasonably priced (unlike some theatre's I could mention) there is a restaurant there but we didn't use it, also I counted 3 bars all reasonably priced. On the whole a superb evening the management and the whole team should give themselves a pat on the back...

Booked for Boy In A Dress. Show was excellent, and as expected from the RSC. My review is really more about the staff service throughout our visit, from the gift shop to the interval drinks. Nothing was too much trouble, and I would recommend getting drinks on the third floor as much less busy. Only one point of caution is that there is only a twenty minute interval, which does make things tight with large numbers of children present.

Not our first visit- will keep coming back. Birthday surprise this time- front row seats. Excellent production, very faithful to book but with creative and original artistic choices in staging. Lovely to see so many engaged (and well-behaved) children in audience, being introduced both to the RSC and to the tolerant themes of the piece.

We visited the theatre for the first time to see the play the boy in the dress and had a fantastic time. The play itself was excellent and appeals to all ages. The place itself is well laid out. They have lifts to all levels which is great as one of our party struggles to walk upstairs. The eating in the the theatre is actually quiet comfortable. There are bars but if you want to take drinks in you can purchase plastic reusable cups for a pound and either keep them or take them back downstairs and get your money back. I would also recommend ordering drinks for the interval. These are left on specific shelfs so you can pick them up and don't have to queue up at the bar. the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Not been to this theatre since it was remodelled its a lovely lay out comfortable seats great views of the stage. It was a cold day outside and freezing in the theatre not very nice.
We knew that this new musical was for families but thought as it was a matinee in term time there wouldn’t be too many children. What a mistake it was full of children and consequently as those in the stalls were primary school they simply did not stop fidgeting very annoying.
We were told before hand masks were mandatory in the theatre unless eating or drinking but people were not complying. The west end theatres ask for a COVID certificate to prove double vaccination perhaps the RSC should consider this.
The musical was good some great talent on stage, fantastic scenery but the music was not memorable. You didn’t want to rush out and buy the music to play again.

My group of 6 friends watched in awe as the superb actors made ‘The boy in a Dress’ come alive. From the first word to the last, we were captivated. The show is awesome & must be destined for the West End. Denis was played by an extremely talented young actor whose performance was faultless. Simply excellent!

Decided to try something different on New Years Eve. Really glad we did. Visited the RSC to see the Boy in the Dress by David Walliams. The venue is small but very well organised with a nice little bar and cafe right in the centre of Stratford. Parking was straight forward at Stratford Leisure Centre.
Whilst ordering a drink before the show we were able to order our drinks for the interval. This all worked very well and the drinks were ready for us at the interval.
Seats were mid-range and the view was excellent. The theatre really does feel like a throw back to Shakesperian times in its design internally.
Show was superb with great songs and a modern storyline. Would highly recommend a visit

Richard lll at the RSC
My first visit post lockdown and shielding as I am classed as clinically vulnerable. This was a big step. I found the booking online and printing your own tickets really easy and safe. I ordered my brochure and collected it from masked staff, no bar staff wore masks and very few visitors either, so it is not a covid respectful place to be. Your very close when you go to your seats and literally as visitors pass you they are really face close. I was happy to have my mask on. The drinks arrangement was good though, the ceilings high. We were in stalls f4 and 5. The sound sometimes was very hard to hear, at times and there was an awful racket of electronic sounding chatter just by us. The two men a couple of seats away got really cross got up snd told whoever it was off saying it was not on. I feel that for £65.00 a seat on this corner of the the theatre if a plays sound is going to be a struggle either get it fixed or cut the price. It’s not good. It’s as of one was on volume fade especially when the backs are too us. The play is fabulous, a superb production
the players really put you into the tragedy of the people who were lost to the bloody ambitions of Duke then King Richard.
I especially loved the shadow and Margaret, my skin did prickle a couple of times!!
We met in the foyer a lovely superfan from Ireland who has been to very many performances at the RSC. Which we thought was lovely.
I think for me covid aware is about 2/10 could do more especially given the huge rise at the moment.
Sound 6/10 for our seating area
Noise interference terrible.
Easy access etc did not use facilities.
I love the theatre. I am unsure about returning for a while yet.

Most recently, we came to Wars of the Roses and we were absolutely blown away - the standard of acting was so high, we absolutely cannot wait to return and see Richard III, as this actor in particular was the standout for me. The stage combat was so exciting and skilfully done, and the costumes and set pieces were fantastic.
Some people may say the recent productions aren’t ‘classic’ Shakespeare, but what’s wrong in finding new & fresh ways to bring us these plays that have been done over and over again?
Whenever we visit, the staff are so helpful and welcoming. The different price bands for tickets are very reasonable, and the restricted view seats are really good value for money. The restrooms are well maintained, although as always expect a long queue for the ladies!
The selection in the shop is great - a wide range to suit different budgets. The programmes are always worth a purchase. We’ll certainly keep coming to the RSC for many years to come.

Enter through the secret door to a world of interactive, thoughtful interpretation that will please even those who are not so into Shakespeare or theatre. Loved by my 10year old but 7 year old dropped out half way through. Check out school holiday rates for a great and affordable outing for the family.

We will be visiting from the US in April 2024 and want to be sure we get tickets for the night we need. How quickly do tickets sell out? Do we need to pay the additional fee for early access or will setting an alarm to book seats when the box office opens be good enough?
Written 8 February 2024
It really depends on the popularity of the production.
I would suggest the more traditional version s of the well known plays are more popular and sell out earlier.
When they try to modernize the work then people become less enthusiastic.
I would research the schedule and make choices based on your preferences.

We have seats in the Circle. Do we have to take a lift or are there stairs available? TIA.

How many minutes befor the show should I arrive
Written 31 October 2022
Any time up to 30 minutes before the performance starts. There is a bar for a pre-theatre drink and you can order your interval refreshments

Is there any free parking within walking distance of the theatre? And could anyone advise what the fee paying car parks charge please? Thanks in advance

The Recreation ground parking is just £2 after 4pm and is less than mins away.

Where is a good lunch spot? Maybe even pick something up and be able to walk with it? I will have 1 hour before a matinee at the RSC? And will be coming from the RSC rehearsal halls?

Doing a trip to London in April 2019 and can’t decide between just doing a day trip to Stratford upon Avon or spending a night there to see a play at RSC. Would have to return to London next day. Husband hates changing hotels for just one night but likes idea of seeing play. We will not have car so will rely on bus or train or tour company. Ideas?

To see a Shakespeare play at Stratford-on-Avon has alway been on my bucket list so chose Romeo and Juliet (because I knew the story). A visit to the RSC was a real experience, would be well worth a visit for you from London. We stayed overnight in the Macdonald's Swan Nest Hotel which was literally 5minutes walk away from the theatre. We had a lovely room with good facilities, the hotel had nice restaurant and bar and it was very near the town where Shakespeare's birthplace is. Have a great stay in the UK.
