Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dino is a real showman. Really made the tour extra special. Adam was immediately welcoming as we waited to board. 40 mins and well worth price of admission. From Dino's new friends from Morecambe (The Staircase Steak House)

What a great boat trip , so much fun and great value for money .
Dino was such a laugh and full of information of the local area .
Finish the boat trip and the church where Shakespeare is buried is literally a 5 minute walk away , as well as the famous pub where many famous actors have hung out The Dirty Duck !!
Would highly recommend

Had a fab trip with Dino and Dan. Not a bad price and we spent just under an hour on the water. There was narration and nice classical music over the speakers. Dino was hilarious entertaining us during the ride. You don't really see much but it's relaxing and quite fun if you like being out on the water. The most enjoyable part was the lock, it was great fun going up and down in it and something I'd always wanted to experience. Nice touch Dino letting some kids help him open the lock on the way back.

Skipper made a game effort at entertaining. Pre recorded audio in faux Shakesperian voice was patronising and basically the barge goes through a lock to a dead end part of the canal then turns around and comes back. You glimpse the church where Shakespeare is buried, but it's nothing you couldn't see from land. Was more interesting for the folk on the shore watching!

Hello and thank you taking the trouble to join Trip Advisor to leave us this review. We have read your comments and would like to respond factually about the trip. When you look out of the window of the boat as it goes through the lock and out onto the river (which is a unique viewpoint you simply don’t get from any land perspective) you will see; Cox's Yard, The Boat Club, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, The Swan Theatre, Holy Trinity Church, the Colin P Witter Lock, the sluice gates at Lucy's Mill bridge, the Chain Ferry, The Other Place, the famous Dirty Duck/Black Swan public house, Clopton Bridge, the Road Bridge, the Gower Memorial and of course the fabulous wildlife including the swans (amongst many other things). These are all mentioned in our award-winning audio commentary and are all perfectly visible from the boat. We spend approx. 10 minutes of a 40-minute trip in one of the oldest and most historical locks in the country. This is a highlight for most people and is on all our marketing information. In the lock we provide a full commentary about its history and how it functions. If you don't want to experience travelling through a lock, then there are other trips available and other things to do. I'm glad you recommend walking we'd recommend that too as it's a lovely place to stretch your legs and enjoy Stratford’s scenic riverside walks. Of course, you don't get the experience of going on a fully skippered passenger boat, travelling through a historic working lock, full commentary and music if you just walk. So it might be nice to do both, particularly if it's raining like it was yesterday as the boat is fully covered. In terms of pricing, you will find our tour is the same price or cheaper than all other comparable 40-minute boat tours anywhere in the UK and is considerably better value than many of the other attractions. Best regards, the Canal and River Tours Team.

Mum and I took a very entertaining trip on Dino and Adam's canal boat the Jenifer May. It was a cold but sunny day in November so we were delighted to see the canal boat was still offering trips down the river. From the offset Dino interacted with the passengers on board, making all of us laugh. We had a commentary to listen to which explained all that we were seeing. Adam handled the boat very well for such a young man. There were tricky points to navigate on the river. Dino ran around pointing out the sights and making sure we were all safe . Such a skilled boatman. I would highly recommend their trip. It only lasts just under an hour but it was a very enjoyable experience. You see the park, the holy trinity church , the Black Swan pub and the theatre. Great day in beautiful Stratford upon Avon

Me and the Mrs really enjoyed to tour, it was really informative and the views were amazing. Dino and Adam were great and they had a wicked sense of humour!
I would highly recommend anyone visiting Stratford to jump on the boat for a funny and informative cruise down the river.

We arrived at 10:50 for the 11:00 boat and the boat was clearly not running at that time. No one was there at all. There was nothing on the website that said it wasn’t running. It was also pouring rain and quite miserable waiting for someone to possibly show up and to figure out what to do next.

We are sorry that we were not running due to the terrible weather/river conditions on the day you had tickets to travel. We did call you (no answer) and followed up with an email to confirm your tickets were automatically refunded to which there has been no reply either. If you think we have been given incorrect contact details for you and would like to follow up further, do please feel free to contact us. There have been a number of cancelled days over the last few weeks due to wet weather / high river levels in one of the wettest Autumns in the UK on record. Once again our apologies and we hope to see you again in the future.

Hi The boat runs every day at 10 minutes past the hour up too around 6-7 pm It gets really busy so advise getting there at least 20 minutes before as it’s first come first served and due to Social Distancing capacity on the boat has been reduced. Enjoy the trip 👍
