About
St Mary's Church is an historic landmark, tourist attraction and busy parish church set in the ancient town of Warwick. People have worshipped on this site for over 1,000 years and we are proud to be the stewards of this rich heritage. One of the largest churches in Britain, we offer a wide range of services, many featuring enchanting music from our choirs. The repair and restoration of the iconic tower of St Mary’s is our immediate short-term priority and the focus of our current fundraising activity.

- El SBirmingham, United Kingdom265 contributionsSurprising large Church, with lots of famous Tudors!Beauchamp Chapel is amazing and is the resting place of some famous historical figures such as Robert Dudley. Lots of colour and gold. The rest of the church feels enormous, with intriguing things, including one of two ducking stools left in the country. The organ was playing which added an extra dimension to the visit.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 September 2023
- Jayne ESheffield, United Kingdom426 contributionsBeautiful historic church well worth a visitThanks to the volunteer tour guide who gave us a warm welcome and fact sheet to help us navigate this beautiful parish church. Stuffed full of history from the tombs of the 11th Earl of Warwick. Robert Dudley and various members of the Beauchamp family. The crypt was a hidden gem with only 1 of the last 2 oldest stocks in England and a lovely poppy display to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the end of WWI . Well worth a visit if you're in Warwick for a small donation you are helping keep this historic church available to future generations.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 September 2023
- Kitty LichfieldStoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom48 contributionsSuperb Historical ChurchSt. Mary's is a magnificent medieval church, of great historical and architectural significance, and very rewarding to visit. We received a friendly welcome on this sunny autumn day, when the building was flooded with light, and it is impossible not to be struck by the wealth of detail everywhere you look. The famous Beauchamp Chapel looked especially wonderful, as the 15th century stained glass windows shone brilliantly. There is also a small shop . I do highly recommend a visit to this church, you may also be lucky enough to encounter Tim Clark, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of its history.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 September 2023
- theplantsman20 contributionsWonderful church, fine music, but quite disgraceful lavatoriesWe recently attended a concert here. The venue is magnificent and the music glorious, but Oh dear! The lavatories are utterly shocking. They would be shameful anywhere but for a major tourist venue, inexcusable. We wonder if they actually satisfy local health and hygiene regulations and are amazed that eminent muscicians actually come here. The authorities should visit Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon to see how it should be done.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 September 2023

Called into this beautiful church for a quick look but was lucky enough to get chatting a guide ( volunteer) who then provided us with a wonderful and fascinating tour of this incredible place. If you enjoy history I can’t recommend highly enough - a real treasure trove.

So surprised this is only a parish church and not a Cathedral, the attention to detail and sheer quality of workmanship on everything is amazing. Make sure you ask a volunteer/helper for information, Christine you did St Mary's proud , never met someone with such a font of local knowledge, you made our visit thank you.

My wife and I visited Warwick during a long weekend exploring central Warwickshire. After visiting the castle, we wandered the local streets and visited the church. Parts of it are stunning, especially the chapel opposite the entrance.

We went to 5.30pm evensong on Wednesday. The choir of girls was amazing as was the organist. Even if you are not a Christian you must experience this beautiful place.

Very interesting ancient church. Highly recommend watching the video presentation in the crypt. Sorry we didn't have time to climb the tower.

Travelled down from York with my mum to go see Warwick Castle because we are big history buffs, and because we love churches we decided to have a quick visit here before the castle. So glad that we did!! It is an unexpected delight inside!! It has so much wonderful history attached to it, and it is very beautiful inside. The Beauchamp chapel is a must see! and a huge thankyou to our guide Linda who was marvellous, and all the other lovely volunteers. Anyone interested in Warwick Castle, the Earls of Warwick, and history in general should definitely go and see this church.
