Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Seeing Macy Gray play at The Town Hall Birmingham on 16th June was my first ever visit to this historic venue and it really was a great experience. The door staff were polite and helpful, the bar was not crazy busy like in most venues, there was good accessibility for those with special needs and the hall had great acoustics and atmosphere. The seats were comfortable and the venue was small enough to feel intimate whilst being large enough to feel like a proper gig. We parked at the Snow Hill Car Park which is a 6 minute walk from the Town Hall and so it was the perfect place to park. I would like to see more performances at the Town Hall and hope to in the near future.

Went to see an Audience with Lucy Worsley , great venue with very comfy seats , we sat in the very back row with a good view of the stage . Light and airy venue with good facilities and friendly staff.
Parked 4 minutes walk away and enjoyed the evening atmosphere in the square.

We visited to see Lindisfarne perform. The group were great and they seemed to be well-supported by the venue. However the bars were woefully inadequate to serve the audience (even though the venue was only about half full.) The staff on duty seemed to be working efficiently but provision was simply inadequate. Also, we wanted ice creams but they didnt seem to be available

Even though its name may lead to assuming that it is a local administration building, not so. In fact a major performance venue resides here.

Opening in 1834 it is a superb Corinthian Temple style. Fifteen columns adorn the long side while 8 reside on the west to east side. An outstanding edifice on high.

Walking around Victoria Square you are immediately struck by the wonderful architecture and without a shadow of a doubt the most beautiful structure is the Town Hall.
The Town Hall had a checkered beginning, the architect's who were chosen to construct the Town Hall were Edward Welch and Joseph Hansom of the Hansom cab design fame who both expected the cost of the build to be £8.000 , a Roman architectural style was devised but during construction Hansom went bankrupt as their cost estimates were to low ,three guarantors donated money namely W P Lloyd,John Welch and Edward Tench and the Town Hall building opened for the delayed music festival on the 7th October 1834 ,the building of the Town Hall was marked by tragedy as two workers died on the construction but despite this the building was well received by the public.
Charles Dickens gave public readings here and Mendelssohns " Elijah " and Elgar's " The Dream Of Gerontius " were premiered here.
Buddy Holly,The Beatles,Led Zeppelin, Queen ,The Rolling Stones and many more popular bands performed here throughout the 1960's and 70's .
The Town Hall closed in 1996 closed for a £35 million refurbishment which brought it back to its former glory and reopened for concerts in 2007 .
The architecture itself is awesome, a free standing Corinthian temple ,the columns look cool ,very photogenic, makes for some great photographic opportunities and adds to the joy of visiting Victoria Square.
Most definitely well worth a visit if you're in the area or planning to visit Birmingham.

The Town Hall in Birmingham City Centre is a grand affair. The building does not look like a traditional city hall, instead it reminds me of a temple.

Located in Victoria Square and close to Chamberlain Square it is not too far from the library, conference centre and symphony hall. The shopping area and Gas Street basin are also not too far away.

Saw some of the Moody Blues perform live here and it's an incredible place for a music venue. Really beautiful inside and feels very intimate as it's quite small. Definitely go to a gig here if you get chance.

I am visiting and staying in Birmingham for two weeks. All my tourist experiences have been positive so far, except for visiting the Town Hall yesterday. It was a bitter and very disappointing experience!
I was literally kicked out after only crossing the main entrance, by an extremely unfriendly lady that seemed to be a bouncer on the site.
I tried to speak, ask what it was and if it was not today when the town hall could be visited, but she didn’t let me and pushed me back to the main door. She responded. “This is just for families”
I slowly responded. “I am sorry I am not a family”.
I would have liked to put a direct complaint to this employee whose attitude is far from welcoming and professional.
It was hurting!”

This is a Gr8 place to see shows,I went to see Beth Nielson Chapman recently. It's been refurbished a while ago and is very comfortable, there is a bar downstairs where you can buy any drinks you want to.The Pina Colada's are a touch expensive. At only about 7 minutes from New Street Station it's well positioned and now with the Christmas German Market next to it,It's the perfect time to visit, specially if you are a little hungry and fancy one of their huge German Bratwurst sausages in a long bun. There is a Gregg's just a few yards away if you want something else.

Have visited Birmingham Town Hall on a few occasions now, each time to attend a gig. We have sat in various locations in the auditorium and have always had a great view and good sound. The bar areas are good as well. We will look forward to another visit.
