The Joseph Sturge memorial is a statue, now over a hundred and fifty years old dedicated to the 18th century anti-slavery activist Joseph Sturge. The statue is just outside the Birmingham Marriott hotel where we were staying so I guess it's one of the first things I saw in Birmingham.

The statue is located just outside the Marriott hotel on five ways round about. The statue dedicated to Joseph sturge born 1793 – 1859 was an English Quaker, abolitionist and activist, he actively fought to abolish slavery as well as setting up hostels for freed slaves.
