About
Selly Manor is a beautiful Tudor manor in the heart of historic Bournville. Alongside the medieval hall of Minworth Greaves, together these are two of Birmingham's oldest buildings and are surrounded by a lovely cottage garden. The museum is home to the Laurence Cadbury Collection of period furniture and domestic objects which bring these timber-framed buildings to life. The museum offers a range of exhibitions, talks and tours, special events, children's activities and is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There doesn't seem to be an entry for the walking tours of Bournville, so I will post it here as they are based at the Manor. The tour was excellent - highly informative, entertaining, positive about George Cadbury and his 'good works', but never sycophantic. We learnt an awful lot and will return to ascend the carillon some time.

Well-presented historical place and museum. More aimed at children but still worth a visit from adults.

I really enjoyed the trip to Selly Manor museum as it gave me an insight into the architecture of the houses in Tudor times. There were many rooms to explore such as: A Tudor kitchen. A Tudor dining room and a Tudor living room. There were many historical artefacts such as different cutlery, plates and cups depending on the social class of the family. There were two dressing rooms, one was full of Tudor Armour such as chain mail and different helmets. The other had Tudor clothing and hats. There was a fairly priced small shop as well that had some items to buy. Overall, it is a nice place to visit.

We absolutely loved this place. We came during Easter week, so there was the most delightful and original egg hunt in the garden, with some very inventive eggs. Then we entered the 500 year old medieval hall, which had been moved to Bournville by George Cadbury, and filled with interesting furniture by his son. There is a good trail to follow, though a couple of the questions were difficult to answer, particularly the one concerning the number of people in the tapestry - we strongly suspect there are not that many people in the tapestry, and the writer of the quiz made a mistake. But it all added to the quirky charm of the place.
For us, it was the very best thing in Bournville - better than Cadbury World. Thoroughly delightful, completely engaging and fascinating, and educational. Yet for most of the time, we were the only ones there.

Brilliant small museum. Not far from city centre but like stepping back 400 years in time. Lots of snippets of interesting information in guide books provided in every room.Great for kids and adults. Small cottage garden with a butterfly trail for the little ones. Photographic display of the Bournville estate in the ticket office. A stroll round Bournville is well worth doing. Admire the beautiful buildings and treat yourself to a hot sandwich from the bakery. Free street parking in Bournville - always a bonus👍 Advance bookings only at the moment but weekdays appear to be very quiet

When you buy your entry tickets in a mediaeval hall house with a massive 17th C table at one end, you know the main building is going to be special.

It's quite small - the main building - and of a similar age. But the furniture and presentation are imaginative. Best of all, it has a very attractive "feel" to it. the gardens are tiny but atractive, even in atumn.

Staff are informative, friendly and helpful.

Highly recommended when you're in Bourneville, visiting the Cadbury's World and maybe going on the short town trail.

After 5 hours at Cadbury World, wanted to explore the area and discovered Selly Manor. It is a quick walk from Cadbury parking lot. Discounted entree with Cadbury World ticket. The place is small so only need less than an hour to visit but what made this experience so wonderful was the staff!! They were extremely kind to answer questions from my children, played games with them in the green space. Even provided first aid with a plaster when my child hurt his finger in a door way 🤦‍♀️ Definitely recommend visiting after a chocolate high
