A great arts space with an extremely good cinema. Seating in the cinema is comfortable, prices reasonable and a wide variety of films are shown, some not shown elsewhere.

I come with my little boy at least twice a month. I love the restaurant not only because the food is good (The vegan breakfast and the pastries and coffee are very nice) but also they are involve into making the restaurant eco-friendly. The atmosphere is special, you can see old people, kids and families all together enjoying the space. I just have brought my kids twice to a theatre performance and we had a great time. I cannot comment about the art expositions or the courses that are being offered by them but I feel they make a real effort to create and keep an artistic space for everyone to enjoy. I love this place!…

As a stranger to Birmingham, I found it a bit difficult to find (using public transport). Once there, I found it quite a nice place. The production I saw was very good. Friendly bar staff during the interval.

Really cross about the price rise in cinema tickets (and no doubt the other activities going on here. Despite what I have been told, it is definitely more expensive to see a film here than it is at other multiplex cinemas in the city, and most multiplex cinemas don't have different prices for different seating areas, as they now do at MAC. I absolutely hate sitting at the front of an auditorium, so had to pay £11.50 for a ticket to see a film this afternoon - and they have no concessions for seniors (nor any other folk for that matter. We were also standing in a queue for tickets at the "box office" fr the best part of 15 minutes, whilst the only person on the desk was doing a phone transaction. Granted that phone transaction was for over £200 worth of tickets, but other staff saw us all standing there, and just ignored the fact that we were queuing up. And please don't get me going about how slow the service is at the cafe. Probably best not to order hot food if you are time constrained, i.e waiting for a performance .... They also now charge for the carpark (£2.00 for 4 hours), but whilst that's not bad I suppose, the carpark is still very uneven and has not been surfaced properly, so there are potholes everywhere, and you're lucky if you don't step into a deep puddle when you get out of your car. That is, if you can find a parking space. And I wish they would put more ticket machines along the length of the carpark - our car was parked right at the far end of the carpark today, and we had to walk nearly all the way up to the ticket machine near the entrance and then all the way back to our car. Difficult when there are cars driving in and out and manoeuvring all the time! Like another reviewer, I will see a film at MAC if it's not showing anywhere else, but they are driving themselves out of business with these prices! I had a scone and hot chocolate at the cafe while waiting for our performance to start, but my scone was really dry and just crumbled into little bits, obviously not very fresh. And please, MAC, can you show films at sensible times - for example, I really wanted to see "Dressed to Kill" recently, but it was showing at 8.30 pm on a Friday evening - after a day's work, I think not! Sorry about this negative review, but that's how it is at MAC now!…

My friend and I joined the introduction to art and design techniques course which began in September and costs £150. We were given toothbrushes and sponges to paint with and next to no instruction for 3 hours. As a teacher, I find it insulting to call this teaching. We then wrote identical complaints asking for refunds as we really weren’t happy to pay £150 for this. My friend has since received a refund whereas I have not. I have contacted them multiple times to find out why I have not received a refund also and received the pathetic excuse of them not being able to resell my ticket. This fact is irrelevant as the course was mis-sold! Calling it a course is misleading as you would expect some teaching on a course! Do not make the same mistake as me.…

Hi Sian, We're sorry to hear your experience on the course didn't match your expectations. We are confident that the course is delivered as described to be an Introduction to Art and Design Techniques. As per the terms and conditions of sale, we are unable to offer refunds, but where we can we do facilitate a resale of the place to another customer. We usually have a waiting list as this is a very popular course, but on this occasion we were only able to do this for the first returned ticket. Many thanks.
