Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited the Wellington - Bennet Hills for my WSET level 1 and was very impressed with the course and the way Ms Katie Gardner taught us.
This all started in the month of September when I called up Birmingham wine school to enquire about the course and was advised about the course and it's benefits by Ms Katie Gardner.

She assisted with a Trust called as the Drinks Trust who helped me persueing the course free of cost.

When the coarse began she made sure that we understand the basics of what the course is and what is expected of it.

We also had few others who didn't have much information and some from a very different background and she was able to teach the way we all get along.

We will be visiting back for my WSET level 2.

Thanks you!!!

Really enjoyable Port Tasting led by Rupert Upshon. Informative, interesting but above all a lot of fun. Suitable for all tastes and levels of knowledge. Delicious port and cheese. All the events from BWS are excellent. Highly recommended.

Lovely evening, nice and relaxed. Enjoyed it, would recommend. Thought it would be a couple of crisps and a sip of wine but not at all, good fun.

Informative day spent with a very knowledgeable host in a pleasant atmosphere.
Personally found that 14 wines across the day was too much, as by the reds after lunch, pretty much lost the ability to differentiate between each wine. - Wine fatigue!

We attended a steak and red wine evening at the Hotel du vin Birmingham last night. We really enjoyed it. Our host Dominic was very knowledgeable and made the evening interesting, informative and fun. There was a good selection of wine and the venue was great. My only negative comment would be the steak knives provided by the hotel du vin made it virtually impossible to cut into a good piece of steak!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review, I'm really glad you enjoyed the wine dinner. We will let the hotel know about the steak knives!

We had a lovely evening with Geoff at the holiday inn express Birmingham. Cheese and wine tasting. Geoff told us he was relatively new with Birmingham wine school, but he made everyone feel comfortable, pitched his knowledge to suit the whole group and provided a good selection of white and red wines accompanied by some tasty cheese. We have been to several of these sessions and find them good value for money and a fun night out.

Throughly enjoyed wine tasting this evening, the hosts expertise was self evident. The variety of wines was great and as a bonus the measures poured were amazing.

Great evening.

This reviews a 3 day course on wine tasting and appreciation. Informative, educational, fun, and personalised teaching. Very highly recommended for an enthusiastic person with good basic knowledge.
Level 1 ( a 1 day course ) was also great fun for someone just starting out on exploring the wonderful world of wine. ( I did that course last year)

This was our third tasting class with this company and they have all been excellent.
We did the fizz tasting and got to try a broad selection.
A good balance of information shared.
This was our first time visiting at the Holiday Inn but as Katie expressed too, it wasn’t the best venue - it felt cold and too corporate for our liking.
It was a small group due to Covid cancellations. The only small thing to improve would be a bit of time to chat and discuss with the people you had gone with as didn’t feel we had that opportunity until the end.
A great gift to purchase for someone though. Recommend!

Went to Snow Hill, Birmingham in late January for Red Wine Tasting experience with a friend (actually, I was lucky, it was a Christmas present from said friend). Had a fabulous evening with host Katie. When we arrived the table was set up with six glasses each (six red's to try), bottled water and each pair at the table had their own generous selection of delicious cheeses and crackers. Shown how to sample the wine (visually, smell and of course taste) we also found out about the different countries/regions the wine came from and the geographical influences. We scored the wine and guessed bottle prices which was fun too. After a few hours with Katie, once the session had finished, she left us but said we were more than welcome to stay in the room and finish any left over wine and cheese! A bonus because the group had really jelled and actually it was well after midnight once we left! Great night, can thoroughly recommend!
