Pre booked tickets well in advance as this is an extremely popular attraction in Birmingham. Very informative and humorous, top tip take a jumper as we'd visited in May but the houses were chilly!

It was a while since I visited with family, nut it's a great way to see how families coped years ago. Tour guides are clued up and give details of families who lived in the area. Most families could relate to them with stories from grandparents. Worth a visit. Booking might be advisable.

Knowledgeable staff and a historic treasure. Various room displaying different era's , but I imagine it wasn't quite as sanitised as that! It still gives a good insight into what life in Birmingham was like.

If you want to immerse yourself in the life of you parents and grandparents then this is the place to do it. The buildings give a wonderful sense of the way of life and the guides are full of information.

I can confirm the status of "Best Attraction" & "Certificate of Excellence" for this small but wonderfull site. Very easy to access by foot from central Birmingham, Bullring and New Street. Pls... More

Bill was our guide on a very interesting, descriptive and extremely personal tour of back to backs. We could touch, smell and soak up the history these houses emit. There were only five of us, so we had that space to move and discover without the hinderence of a crowded tour. All the way from the communal washhouses and outside... More

We had a little trepidation when we booked our tour with our 4 young kids (ages ranging from 1 to 7) but our guide, Jeff, made it interesting and fun for all of us and used the kids to demonstrate how the children would sleep top to tail, fetch water for the house and what their other jobs were. He... More

The Back to Backs are really worth visiting. It makes you realise that when people were poor back then they really were poor with no running hot and cold water, no bathrooms, central heating etc etc. Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Good for children to see what life used to be like for their ancestors! I'm old enough to... More
