Visited with my mum. Her first visit my third always interesting and the guides have lots of information and anecdotes about the people who lived in the houses. A real insight into how the working classes lived in Birmingham a refreshing alternative to National Trust stately homes. Very interesting well worth a visit on more than one occasion. Easy to... We went here to look around. Didn't realise it was done on a tour basis so in high season it may be well to book ahead. We wer lucky to g t he last 2 places on a tour. Only about 8 in a group. Her is a cost unless you at NT members.

We have wanted to see the Back to Backs for ages. We were not disappointed. So glad that these remnants of a foregone age survived the modernisation of Birmingham. The National Trust have done a wonderful job on the 11 dwellings. The organised tours take you through almost a hundred years of their history and the excellent guides related everything... More

An unusual and fascinating attraction. Very well organised with interesting insights as to how people lived in the back to backs over time. The tour given by Jeff started a hundred and fifty years ago and takes you through time until the dwellings were finally abandoned. At each stage you see how people lived and it brought home the apalling... More

As members of the National Trust we've been meaning to come here for years. We needed to overnight nearby for an event the next morning so we took advantage of a school "in service" day to book a tour for ourselves and 9 year old daughter. I emailed to book and received a prompt reply. It is probably busier at... More

Visited this week with a group of friends and we all really enjoyed our visit. Our Guide, John, brought history to life in the fun way that he walked us through each of the properties describing life as it would have been. Fabulous. Book this now!

National Trust Property that's well worth a visit, you are transported back in time & as you pass through each house you enter a different era, something interesting for everyone. Not good for anybody with mobility problems as you need to be able to climb the narrow stairways up through the houses to access all areas.

Have to concur with other reviewers in that this attraction is a truly great place to visit. We had a smashing guide (Pat) who took us around and the knowledge she gave to us was so informative and really did make this a museum tour to remember. Thanks to the National Trust and it's staff for preserving a small part... More

We did need to book and on a chilly day you need to wrap up warmly. The warnings about the steep stairs are correct. Goodness knows how they managed with their hands full and with no rails back in day. This tour really does make you think how far we have come in less than a century. You are guided... More

Although I'm an NT member I spotted this on Trip Advisor and was curious to take a look. Although I couldn't get through on the phone to book we took a walk down there on Sunday morning and were booked onto a tour 15 mins later by the very helpful staff member. The tour was about an hour and a... More
