I visited with a friend about a month ago as we recently became National Trust members and are trying to take advantage of it. Every room has carefully placed items that may have been familiar to past residents, but are often completely foreign to the modern eye. Our tour guide was very helpful in describing their original use (or offering... More

Right in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, as well reasonably price, this National Trust property is a must. Our group of 11 friends all of which remembered these type of properties really enjoyed the afternoon. Our group was split into two, but we all enjoyed the guided tour, and knowing the guides give their time voluntarily, they are to... More

Two hours of complete nostalgia giving you a real insight into life in those days. The guides are very informative and you are aloud to touch items and sit on furniture/ beds.

A great afternoon of memories and reminders of what life was like when I was young. Having been brought up in a back-to-back just a couple of miles from here in Hockley I took my partner, daughter and granddaughter to show them life before Central Heating, gardens, indoor toilets, bathrooms and even hot running water. What an excellent time we... More

We took our 7yr old grandson to the Back to Backs in Birmingham about a year ago. My husband and I had lived in similar properties when we were children and my grandmother and great aunt continued to live in some, in Leeds, until the 1960s. It was a real eye opener to our grandson and a walk down memory... More

The BEST national trust property in the country. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and the rooms dressed in different eras as you progress through the houses. You need to book.

It is interesting to visit grand country houses but it... More
