This golf range used to be great but unfortunately a new member of staff thinks its ok to smoke weed and abuse the people that question him. He is never in the shop when people turn up to hire clubs maybe he's to busy rolling his joints? A big shout out for Dave though who is very polite and helpful. The Portable toilet is an absolute disgrace unfit for use dont think its ever seen a bottle of bleach.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I took a group of young people for a quick experience and we had an ok time until 9.05 when we were just finishing off - we wasn’t the only ones there and there were also small children there. The old mans attitude was abhorrent and then to be told to hurry up cos he wants to lock the F***ing gates was awful. Really upset my young people and won’t be returning, they obviously don’t need the business of paying customers. Very sad.

I have been coming to this range for almost 2 years and have slowly become frustrated by one particular staff member throughout.

The range itself is fit for purpose. It has plenty of bays with average quality mats. The balls are playable, yellow srixon range balls with an average of 10 per 100 badly damaged. It is flood lit and so you would expect the dark winter days to pose no threat to cutting short your practice. It is advertised as open until 2100h, Monday to Saturday.

I regularly arrive here between 1930 - 2000h after work, after making a detour of approximately 10 miles on my way home.
One particular staff member, a young lad, who always seems to be working the evenings has become a huge pain in my ass and is slowly ruining any good reputation that the place may have.

Every time I arrive at 1930h he states to me that “the lights will be out at 9pm” or “you will have to be quick”. I know how long a practice session takes and mastered the art of timekeeping long before I grasped the raspy swing that I now seem to own.

Tonight was the final straw. Saturday 25th January 2020.... I arrive at 1930h, walk over to the entrance to find the door locked up. The flood lights still lit and the shop window glowing up. I knew that “the lights go out at 9”. I’ve had that drummed into my head by the prat that works there. Obviously I was confused.

I walked around the shop and saw my best mate stood at the end of the range collecting balls. I shouted across to him, “mate, why’s the door locked?” He replied, “it’s dark, you can’t see anything, we are shut”.

The flood lights are worth a mention because they was lighting this guy up like a Christmas tree at 250 yards, I only came to practice some wedge shots.

The website at this point states that they are still open. The guy refused to open up.

I’ve emailed the centre and await a reply.

Good price and something different but balls are cash only as was club hire so had to go back to get cash in this day and age you’d expect card payment and contactless to be availble

Played the pitch and putt with my son. Waste of a tenner. The teeing mats ripped up,the greens were in an awful state not cared for at all. Dug up in places bare and scabby, no grass on them. A water container left right by 1 one of the greens, don't know why cus they haven't watered them. Range balls flying over onto the pitch n putt.. Don't waste your money folks.. Absolutely rubbish!!

Best thing about golfbug... it's cheap.
1. The toilet is a really smelly portaloo in the car park.
2. Desperately needs signs put up in booths on etiquette.
Hard to concentrate when gangs of chavs are shouting swearing and smoking weed whilst you're using the facilities.
3. Biggest bugbear are the golf balls. 70% of them are Faded, cracked, dimple free and handful had large chunks missing.

Plus side it's a couple of £ cheaper than Beckets farm range.

I tried this range a few weeks ago, and in all honesty I would sooner drive another few miles to the awesome American Golf near Wythall.
Golf bug is neglected and needs a complete transformation. It doesn't have adequate facilities ie toilets and handwashing plus no drinking water.
There was golf balls all over the floor upon entering, something that happens on a regular basis, as I was informed, due to the ball machine constantly messing up.
The one portaloo stuck on the car park, for both ladies and gents, absolutely disgusting....
Obviously this is down to bad management, no speculate to accumulate there then.
Take it from me, give this place a wide berth and visit the place I now go, as mentioned above. It might be a couple of pounds more expensive, but the entire place is much more upmarket and after all, you get what you pay for and the facilities are in keeping with Health and Safety.

As a complete novice we had a great afternoon. The sun shone and we enjoyed the fresh air. Tiger woods doesn’t need to worry but our family from 10 years upwards enjoyed themselves.
