- TravelswithmyMonkeyWolverhampton, United Kingdom15 contributionsViews and location are great but they don’t make up for what this hotel lacks.Incredible views, pleasant staff, great location…… but everything was a little bit worn. Chipped corners, walls and doors. Incredible views but the windows were filthy. Carpets were dirty and the room corners, nooks and crannies were very dusty. We booked 2 rooms and my air conditioning didn’t work so my room was like an oven. Generally tired and not what I expected from this standard of hotel. We were going to book directly though the hotel for 2 rooms. When I looked on booking.com it was half the price as direct with breakfast. Breakfast at Marco Pierre Whites wasn’t any better than a generic chain hotel/pub.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 24 September 2023
- Tina LStafford, United Kingdom125 contributionsGreat stay! After reading some of the reviews I was really worried, BUT honestly I am fussy but could find no fault with the hotel at all our room 2429 was very clean, great shower and had everything you could need, bed was really comfortable and the air conditioning was easy to control. It was nice and quiet throughout the night so we got a good night's sleep. We ate at the restaurant on the night and had breakfast the next day and the food was really good, yes the furniture needs updating ( we have been told this is happening early next year) but you don't eat the furniture and once seated you don't see it either.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 November 2023
- Rebeka LBirmingham, United Kingdom27 contributionsLovely views and overnight stayJust got back from a lovely overnight stay in the cube hotel, we went to celebrate a special occasion. We was told there was a problem with the hot water and they couldn’t apologise enough. The Girls on reception Sue and rhia where so lovely 🥰 and helpful they couldn’t do enough for us. They upgraded our room and gave us some complimentary drinks for the inconvenience. And a discount on our room. We are so glad we stayed we had the best time the views were amazing 🤩 and the breakfast was lovely 🥰 had the best time and the hot water was fixed a few hours later. Would definitely stay again.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 December 2023
- Kerry R11 contributionsBig let downWe visited The Cube over Christmas with friends, upon arrival we were informed that one room was ready and second room wouldn’t be long. No problem until we went into our room, we had booked 2 superior rooms with views, our room overlooked the inner of the cube, we soon noticed that our tv had no signal and that our plug in the bathroom was sticking, this was sorted out by housekeeping. When I rang down about the tv I was told very abruptly that it was down to the weather, so I rang our friends and theirs were working!. So yet again I complained, only to be told we would have to move rooms as they could not fix it and that a new room would be a standard room, eventually after a long conversation we agreed to stay in our room with a discounted rate. However with regards to our friends room this was clearly a step above ours, it was more like a suite, and to add insult to injury they had 2 working tv’s!!! If you book a superior room it should have superior facilities, We had Elemis products in the rooms and these were available to purchase, although we didn’t know this as our bathroom didn’t have a card stating this, and we only knew as our friend mentioned it. The carpets are all rippled in the corridors to. Of which our friend kept on catching his walking stick on them . Overall we did sleep well. Breakfast was at Marco’s, this was a huge disappointment, the place has gone down drastically, bar staff weee kept to a minimum, the chairs and sofas are all ripped and tatty, the table cloths are all marked, and the breakfast was over cooked , the bacon couldn’t be cut, and the scrambled eggs were more of a scrambled omelette, this place used to be good, Marco seriously needs to remove his name from this place, it’s massively overpriced, and very shoddy now , we won’t be returning any time soon.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 January 2024
- Paul EAberdyfi (Aberdovey), United Kingdom286 contributionsVery mixed experienceA very mixed opinion from experiencing some very good and quite poor features. Great location near the centre of the city, close to station, restaurants and Bullring shopping. Don't be fooled by the reception being located on the 5th floor, for you and me that is the ground floor! Found it impossible to reach reception by phone before arrival but they responded to a subsequent email enquiry. Our room was on the 24th floor, very well equipped with white dressing gowns, large TV, tea maker and walk in shower. With a discount offer, including full breakfast, on the 25th floor, we found the price for quality level very acceptable. However, the downside in the room, with a great view of the city, was an uncomfortable spring mattress bed and unusually hard pillows. The biggest disappointment was in the morning, when the warning label by the sink warning of very hot water turned out to be a fallacy as there was no hot water (in our room - which we reported) to shower or wash. There is a very pleasant looking bar on the 25th floor, with city views, but during our, albeit, low season visit, the bar had none of their 3 draught beers available and neither of the first two brands of gin I tried to order. Didn't stay long. Breakfast was very acceptable with a buffet section and menu for hot food offering full English to smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Can't give it a higher rating due to the bed and hot water situation.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 January 2024
- juliewoods63Doncaster, United Kingdom75 contributionsGreat hotel . Good value for money.A great hotel and lovely staff . We had an exec room which was of a very good standard . The room was a good size and the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable . The bathroom was modern. , large and clean with the added bonus of Elemis products. The amenities in the room were very good … kettle , coffee machine , mini fridge , etc . The Marco Pierre White bar on floor 25 , was very good , very comfortable and a good range of drinks . Prices were reasonable too . The views were brilliant. Breakfast was good .. hot and very tasty .. a reasonable range of continental items . The hotel is a short walk from the city centre . Overall good value for money ,, I would definitely stay there again .Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 April 2024

Parking at The mailbox is a must as they only do Parking 3, 6, or 12 months at The Cube. Nice room with fabulous views over Birmingham, the room wasn't too hot, which is always a bonus & a fan was provided. The carpet was quite stained in the room, but other than that, no issues. Breakfast was excellent. There were lots of choices, and we had absolutely gorgeous almost 360 views on the top of the building whilst eating. We really enjoyed our night's stay & would definitely stay again 😊Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 August 2024

Great hotel, easy to drive to, great room as per request to have a room with a view... Although we didn't book a table at the top 25th floor Marco Pierre White restaurant we were in awe of the location/view. (Next time)
The huge negative is that after receiving reassurance from hotel staff that if we entered the adjacent RingGo parking code we would just have to book 4 hrs parking from the comfort of our hotel room for the following morning... Where in reality we were just met with a £25 parking ticket as the advised code was not the actual code we needed. We will return but not take parking advice offered.

Such a disappointment.
I stayed for a few days with my partner for his birthday, luckily we had some nice plans that didn’t involve the hotel.
I can’t say it was 100% negative, the room looked nice and the hotel had a good location. But the mattress was rock hard, the bedding didn’t stay on, the thermostat was broken and so the room was constantly baking hot (we heard others sharing this issue). The shower was 50/50, sometimes working but then other times it wouldn’t get hot.
The hotel is only across 2 floors, and above us was the Marco Pierre restaurant so music and stomping could be heard all evening. On our first night we had a drink at the bar and then went to bed. We got to sleep around 1:30am. We were woken at 6am to the room phone ringing. It rang off before we got to it, but when it rang again we attempted to answer but couldn’t see the button in the dark. Then, a knock at the door. There was a man in a jumper and jeans stood there, my partner answered the door and the gentleman didn’t introduce himself or apologise for the early hour, he had no name badge and didn’t even tell us if he worked for the hotel. He didn’t say hello, he just asked for myself by name. I went to the door and was asked if I knew a man who was in reception. I explained I knew nobody in the hotel or the area. The man explains this man had damaged their champagne bar, and continued to say the man had had beers in my room and had mentioned my room number and my name. This was extremely alarming and I said I didn’t feel comfortable with this as I had no idea who this man was and nobody had spent time with me other than my partner. Another man joined and I was told to “Stop stressing”. I said I wasn’t stressed I was extremely confused, and the men left.
I spoke to a receptionist the next day to clarify whether these people actually worked for the hotel and she was aware of the situation. Still nobody had apologised for waking us up, or for questioning us about something that had nothing to do with us. This is also when we realised a CCTV camera directly above our bedroom door, which begs the question why wasn’t CCTV checked to confirm this “very intoxicated” man’s story instead of waking us at 6 in the morning.
We didn’t enjoy the stay and we’re constantly anxious that we would be woken again or someone would let themselves into our room.
Both me and my partner are covered in bites since our stay also which we noticed on our last night.
I wish I would’ve booked a different hotel.

I was booked in to stay Friday 2nd August, having only made the reservation the day before.
Checked in with no issues, went to my room, opened the door and got hit with the most intense gust of HOT air.
At first I assumed that somebody had put the heating accidentally on full blast, instead of the air con.
I quickly realised that there was no air con and the hot air that had hit me was from 3 fans that were on in the room. I can’t state heavily enough just how hot this room was, it was a serious health and safety issue.
I explained to the receptionist that it wasn’t possible for anyone to stay in that room, it was dangerous. She explained that some rooms were without air con and that maintenance were aware but that there were no other rooms available in the hotel.
As a gesture of compensation, I was offered a discount at the bar. It was at this point that I realised she wasn’t understanding just how bad the heat was in my room so I invited her to see for herself. But she wasn’t interested.
A refund on the room was eventually agreed. But my plans for the night were ruined as I then had to try and find somewhere else to stay. I’d also already paid £20 for the Mailbox parking which was now of little use.
Nearly a week later I still haven’t heard back from a manager as I’d requested, and I still don’t have my refund.
This room was not fit for purpose. The staff knew this in advance but let me turn up and check in anyway. They really didn’t care about the predicament it left me in. A really awful experience…. horrendous customer service.

Have you ever stayed at a hotel where the default room temperature is set to 28oC, and there is little you can do about it? Welcome to The Cube! The room so hot, making it impossible to sleep, with the only fix being to call reception (whom incidentally are completely unapologetic) to adjust the temperature - a fix that only lasts 20mins before being plunged back into 28oC heat.
What an absolute shambles! Sadly looking at previous reviews this is a problem that the hotel is well aware of, but irrespective continues to let out affected rooms to unsuspecting customers.
This is the first time that I’ve taken to write a review at 3:51am, the situation is that bad.
Given the tired state of the rooms also, the only thing that this hotel has going for it is location. So on that basis, to avoid disappointment, I would highly recommend seeking to book elsewhere!

Not the best room.
Initially on checking in, I found the telly on and a handbag and luggage in “my” room with the bathroom door closed and lights on. I returned to reception to notify that the room was occupied to be told it was not. I advised again that it was indeed occupied and got the key for a room on the lower floor, worried that I too may now get a surprise visitor of my own.
On arrival to my new room, I noted the carpets to be very dirty (see images). Not ideal but not likely to affect my stay in any real way. After a busy day, I went to shower. On stepping in to the shower I noted quite a bit of grout stains and some dark hair in the corner of the shower. Lovely. Once out of my lovely unclean shower, I attempted to brush my teeth, to find the plug for the sink stuck shut and no way to drain the water out of the sink. Queue me brushing my teeth back in the dirty shower and having to remove the water in the sink with a cup and a face cloth. Ideal.
I then went to hang my clothes up for the next day to catch my arm on a flap of metal hanging off the wardrobe. At this point I decided to abandon looking at or touching anything else. I bolted to door, put the do not disturb sign out and went to bed praying for no newly checking in visitors. I woke about two hours later to find the room ridiculously warm and the thermostat stuck at 28 degrees.
In the defence of the hotel, I didn't alert reception to the dirty, broken parts of my room because I had already had to tell them my initial room had someone in it and after showering I didn't really want to move room again.
I didn't pay a huge sum for my room, and I suppose you get what you pay for. The hotel looks like it would have been really nice when everything was new. It maybe just needs a bit of a clean/fix up.

Never stayed here before but will definitely stay again if I’m in Birmingham. Reception was very pleasant & helpful. The bedrooms are on the 23rd and 24th floors and the views are amazing. The restaurant is on the 25th and the breakfast is part buffet, part waiter service. The staff in the restaurant were really friendly and service was excellent. The cooked breakfast was lovely and fresh. Only very slight grumble is that, despite a control panel by the door, your room temperature is controlled from Reception but there’s nothing, apparently, in the room to tell you that. However, it was altered immediately and was perfect when I came back from dinner.

Arrived looking forward to a one-night stay. At the front desk, we were told we had to pay, even though we already had. Evidenced by payment confirmation email and bank statement online to the chap at the desk. The manager overheard our conversation and corrected the other employee - no apology, no explanation. Poor start.
In the room, it was exceptionally tired and in need of some TLC; marks on the wall, loose fixtures and fittings including lights and wardrobe handles etc. Sink didn't drain easily, curtain fittings broken, broken table on the balcony, phone didn't work, amateur electrics behind the curtain, the list goes on.... see photos.
So many other hotels in the area to choose from, probably better quality and better value. Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't go back.

I took the train and walked as much easier.
