Cool piece of architecture.

Birmingham is justifiably famous for its eclectic architecture, modern and old ,one of the most interesting buildings is The Cube which overlooks the famous Birmingham canal system.
Constructed between 2007 - 2010 from designs by architect Ken Shuttleworth at a cost of £100 million ,25 floors high ,a mix of bars and restaurants and a boutique hotel, its a landmark building, absolutely fantastic to look at ,very photogenic, makes for some great photographic opportunities and is well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning to visit Birmingham.

An ok restaurant
Feb 2020
We went for lunch on Friday, 3 courses with wine for two, Groupon voucher. It was very busy but there lots of staff. Firstly, after queuing at the desk to be seated our booking could not be found. Stood in another queue, seated promptly. Alix, our server, brought the menu, took our drinks order. Drinks arrived, placed our order, starters came in good time. Waited for some time, plates cleared, another wait, then the wine appeared. After some considerable time I noticed people who arrived after us were being served their mains. Managed to waylay Alix, a very busy girl, turns out our order had been "overlooked". Mains finally arrived after being seated for 1 hour 20 minutes. Dessert followed at a reasonable interval. Food was cooked well, presented nicely, but, in my opinion, no better than our local pub. However, it was an experience, great views, but will not be returning any time soon.

Tourist trap or restaurant?
Oct 2019 • Couples
We had a Christmas present of a lunch at The Cube. As a Brummue I've seen the building and was interested to see the view from 25 gloors above the canal. Well the view was good .
The person "welcoming" us into the restaurant never made eye contact as he tapped details into the ipad and photographed my voucher... luckily our waiter was lovely. But the food...Starters were adequate and , on reflection, the high spot of an appalling meal. Medium rare steak was underseasoned and nowhere near "rare". Chunky chips served rather than french fries. No watercress - just a sprinkle of wilting micro coriander leaves. No explanations. The "signature Marco Pierre White Baked Mac n'Cheese" was a disgrace. A bowl of melted , stringy cheese. Macaroni. A handful of indeterminant fried mushrooms as garnish. Baked? As an experienced cook I'd say almost certainly microwaved. Suffice it to say we didn't order a desert. Visit this venue, if you must, but don't expect to eat good food. Incidentally, unless yoy're eating alone, don't pay £5 pp to have window seats. Half of your group will have their backs to the view!

Lane 7- AMAZING!
Aug 2019
We visited Lane 7 as a birthday treat for a family member. Really fun and one of the best bowling alleys in the midlands. Great drinks bar however better for families to go in the afternoon. Retro arcade with games and amazing ambience. Absolutely fantastic and great location near restaurants and shopping. Definitely consider going again!

Lane 7 - Great fun with the family
Aug 2019 • Family
I visited here yesterday with my family as a belated birthday present for my dad and we all had a fantastic time.
There are 10 bowling lanes but we were lucky enough to get put on lane 9 which was right at the back with Lane 10 (which was empty) so we ended up having a whole section to ourselves. This was perfect with my 2 year old son as he had plenty of room to wander around.
The bar had some good beers and ciders although its a little pricey, but you kind of expect to pay a little more in a place like this.
Other than the bowling there are a few other things to do such as arcade machines and beer pong.

Overall, a fantastic place which i can't wait to get back to at some point soon. It is in a good location as well being in the Cube. You can get food here, however if you wanted to go elsewhere you are spoilt for choice in the Cube, the Mailbox and Brindley Place a little further up the canal.
On top of this I thought the staff were all really pleasant and helpful which always improves the experience.

Family celebration, a year late for our son's 21st as he was in Oz at the time
We were seven guests
Good location
Set menus not cheap but fair value. I chose the Samurai and whilst this included only one king prawn, one scallop and a small amount of salmon, the steak was more ample and the accoutrements very good - salad, appetizer (teriyaki chicken & spring roll), soup, rice, vegetables
Great entertainment provided by the chefs and a great shout out to anyone celebrating
Less busy than I had anticipated for 20.00 on a Saturday evening
Good Asahi on draft
All in all, good food, good venue and good fun

Lane 7 - WORST BAR IN BIRMINGHAM
Jun 2019 • Friends
If you like getting ripped off and having terrible service, this is the place for you. The prices that are labelled on the website are incorrect, they’ll make you pay more when you finish.
One free drink when you book online is a small bottle of beer or half a cider, so don’t fall for that one.

Arcade games hardly worked, basketball was a waste of time, and air hockey didn’t turn on. Asked staff could they come and help but they just didn’t bothered, to busy chatting amongst themselves.

Your much better off not going in there, lovely bars around there. Just don’t fit in with the vibe, I won’t be going back. Also it’s in the centre of town and we couldn’t order some food at 8pm, apparently the kitchen was closed.

Yeah so basically don’t waste your time
