    A beautiful country park
On the outskirts of the city, this country park is well worth the trip. A recently revamped visitor centre now has improved cafe and pub facilities alongside the play area. There's also a GoApe experience and loads of wildlife to see on the long walks you can take around the park.

Wonderful Abbey Punts and Sparkling Afternoon Tea
Lovely sparkling afternoon tea in the garden room. We were served a chilled glass of fizz then had a pot of tea and a pot of fresh brewed coffee. The afternoon tea comprised of finger sandwiches, scones with cream & jam and a selection of wonderful desserts. The food was delicious and plentiful; compliments to the chef. We brought most of our cakes home with us! The staff were all very pleasant and attentive. Our day was made extra special by a chance meeting with Anthony the Puntsman. We got chatting to Anthony who then took us to show us his boat room. He entertained us with his conversation, keyboard and vocals. Such a talented, charming and delightful man. We will definitely return for one of his leisure trips on his punt. We can highly recommend Coombe Abbey and Anthony of Abbey Punts.

Take a punt on a punt
We identified Coombe Abbey Park as a rest point on our journey north. We were not disappointed. The cafe was good, the gardens delightful but we found an even better surprise. A punt trips along the moat to the Abbey "Grotto". The boatsman, Anthony, was very friendly, told us about the history and wildlife, and even serenaded us on a grand piano in the grotto. He is also the pianist for the Abbey, and the grotto is used by brides who get dressed there, then punt to the garden steps where they alight for their wedding. Taking a punt on the punt was an unexpected and enjoyable treat.

    Luminate Coombe December 2023
Our family visited the spectacular 'Luminate Coombe' event on Saturday evening 2nd December. The light displays were very imaginative and superbly executed. It was an extremely cold evening and I felt sorry for the marshalls but all of them were courteous and good humoured. Well done Coombe Abbey and Coventry City Council in offering a first class winter spectacle.

Lovely as always but I wasn't impressed that coventry council are charging £3.95 per child to enter a play park in the middle of the woodland area. We also were told usually you can have a 2 hour session there but today is only half an hour because it shuts at 4pm. The children were bored of it after 15 minutes. Never have I have to pay to enter whats simply a park. There's nothing more to it, no fancy frills etc a climbing area with some slides.. absolute rip off in all honesty.

First time visiting Coombe abbey for Iluminate and won’t be going again.

We were excited as the weather was lovely and kids actually away from screens for an evening.

The course was short, including a stop for food at the start it was an hour max.

The lights were nice but just not that many and not very imaginative, the kids kept asking when the exciting stuff was happening.

The food was terrible, the adults had pork cobs £8 each and kids wanted the German sausages they were £9 each and tasted awful. I would eat before you go.

We didn’t stop for the hot choc or marshmallows half way round as they were quite pricey and the area was rammed.

All in all it was a nice walk round a lit up area but not worth the 45 min drive or the price we paid.

Been to Luminate a couple of years now and it's always been very good.
However tonight was a total let down.
No imagination with the lights this year what so ever.
The trail was very short and not half as many lights as previous years.
It seemed like they just couldn't be bothered this year and just put a few random lights in various places.
Won't be returning next year after this.
My children were very disappointed and so was i.
Poor poor event for the prices charged!!

Absolutely disgusted with this year 2023 pathetic attempt. We attended last year and rebooked for this year as it was so magical. Save your money guys don’t bother paying to see a few lights, disco ball and a projector on a building. Coombe Abbey you should be ashamed charging people for this. Quarter of the size compared to last year we were left speechless and so disappointed thanks for ruining our Christmas Eve
We will never return

Have been to Coombe Park for the Christmas light show for the past three years.
Disappointed by the show this year2023 , sadly lack of effort and imagination used by organisation!
Walk/trail was much shorter and the displays were rather poor, the evening was a let down on past experience!
I don't think there will be a fourth visit in 2024.

Absolutely shocking illumination lighting event. Following a muddy track of basically festoon lights. An arch, glitter balls, 4 rotating gobos, building lit up and some fairy’s. Belton House was 1000 x better last year. Also music to the event was not even Christmas.

Extremely disappointed with the Luminate lights, lazy display with zero Christmas theming. Seeing the lights in villages on the way to and from Coombe was better!
Loads of empty areas along the walk, no really eye catching displays, nothing stunning or magical and a complete rip off

WE RETURNED THIS YEAR BECAUSE LAST YEAR'S DISPLAY WAS AWESOME. All one way and non-stop features.
This year was shorter, a whole section around the boating lake not included, big gaps without feature lights, very muddy (I get it. It's been very wet) and two-way walking (dodging) made for an experience we won't attend again. We didn't take photos as we were so underwhelmed. Shame.

Having visited Luminate at Coombe Abbey for the last 3 years I have to say that this year was very disappointing after such a promising start walking down to the lake.

There wasn't a full circuit as part of the path led you back the way you had already been. Although the trees looked nice they weren't as spectacularly lit as the previous two years. I was also hoping the feature on the little bridge over a stream where it portrayed a troll lived would return - but sadly not, along with other great interactions of the previous years.

Although there were some pretty features it generally seemed to be lacking in the imagination of the two previous years, reuse of a number of the features and was basically really expensive for a fairly short walk.

Unlikely to return and will prefer to travel further afield

Thoroughly enjoyed our walk around the lights. Staff were very chatty and polite. Had some marshmallows and mulled wine. Would highly recommend for a nice night out.
