The experience of visit to the Herbert Art Gallery starts from the walk from Coventry city centre soaking in history, past Lady Godiva statue and old church, remains of bombed cathedral and new cathedral. At the end of the steps of Coventry Cathedral looking right is the Herbert Art Gallery. Free entrance, and one is advised to have a cup... More

Born and grew up in Coventry. regularly visited the Herbert as a child. Was refurbished a few years ago. sadly its changed...and not for the better Many exhibits that were on show in bright cases are now in one huge crowded display case . in a badly lit room. Seems as if they stuffed them in there as an after... More

Love visiting here and always enjoy looking at all the items on display. There is plenty of space and you can stay for as long as you like, which is always a bonus. Staff are also very good. If you go allow a couple of hours to look at things properly.

I have been here allot and love it, its a great addition to the city. Last visit was with partner who had never been before and he enjoyed it thoroughly, his favourite section was the taxidermy animal room at the back and mine the first room downstairs with the history of Coventry, clothes and relics. The gallery has a great... More

The Herbert has changed dramatically over the years and still functions as a local museum but has some excellent special exhibitions every now and then. Access to the behind the scenes collection rooms is a real treasure trove and worth the time and effort of going through the drawers and cases. The shop area is small but has a nice... More

Thought this would be the sort of regional museum that covers some of locally interesting events, and was pleasantly surprised at the scope of the displays. Everything from Coventry's pre-history, through the weaving, manufacturing boom times and into the modern era. The volunteers are excellent and very knowledgeable, showing great interest and passion in helping all comers in understanding their... More

This was a Art gallery lots of beautiful painting to look at and fine things to see. The cafe was very nice and reasonable we had some teacakes and a pot of tea for two. I was disappointed that the toilets were not clean.

With history, fine and modern art galleries, lits of sculpture and all about Lady Godiva, a fine local museum which shows how Coventry is different. Well planned with nice details like free lockers.
