Coventry Cathedral is an amazing building. It is beautiful in a mid twentieth century way and the Cathedral has an amazing ministry to the world. I went with a trip organised (brilliantly) by the Friends of Worcester Cathedral and we were hosted by the Friends of Coventry Cathedral to refreshments. We then attended a brief service of Reconciliation, well led and explained by one of the Canons, and were then taken on a tour by knowledgeable guides. The tour included the bombed out Cathedral immediately next to the new one. Everyone we encountered at the Cathedral was helpful, friendly and nice. It was a great visit for a Christian believer but even if you are not I think you would find a visit to Coventry Cathedral it beautiful, moving and and thought provoking. The only thing Coventry Cathedral lacks is a coffee/tea shop. Most of us went to the Museum opposite when our visit was over.

It was a brilliant design idea to place the new cathedral adjacent to the ruined cathedral as it made it very poignant the catastrophic effect of war. All the stained glass windows, the huge tapestry, the etched glass and the statues are so memorable. Attended Eucharist service which made for a special visit with the opportunity to hear the organ playing.

We had a truly wonderful tour with Mary. Her knowledge was extraordinary in all areas, design, construction, cultural references and the important messages of the cathedral. All was delivered with humour and pace. Best tour like it I ever had.

Absolutely wonderful cathedral, and hearing 'Messiah' last night topped it all off. The performance was excellent, and the candlelight contributed to a truly atmospheric evening. Well done and lots of love to you all xxxx

This is a must-visit if you are near Coventry. The burnt-out building is a somber reminder of Coventry history and what our parents/grandparents went through during WW2. Some fabulous art sculptures/pieces around the theme of forgiveness created a strong emotional feeling that stayed with me. The new cathedral is directly across the road from the old cathedral. Opened in 1962. A gorgeous modern Cathedral. The stained glass is definitely worth a look and underneath the main room, at the back of the Cathedral, is a great museum room that often gets overlooked.

This was a real surprise ! I have been visiting cathedrals since 2016 and this one was low on my list . However I found a wonderful welcome here and lessons to be learned about forgiveness and inclusion . My guide Paul happily gave up his time to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with me . Go !

Our third cathedral in two weeks! We'd both wanted to visit Coventry and the opportunity came during part of our journey south via Didcot. Coventry Cathedral is awe-inspiring with the bombed out shell of the ancient building complemented with a modern building constructed between 1956 and 1962. The word that rang through my mind during our visit was 'reconciliation'. The stained glass in the new section is very modern but also very appealing - if you like Manchester Cathedral, you'll love Coventry. The staff on duty at the shop are lovely and very happy to talk about the building. Entrance is free, but donations are very welcome. I would suggest travelling to Coventry by train or park and ride as the road network is a nightmare even with a Satnav. If you choose to drive into the city, we would certainly recommend the Salt Lane multi-storey car park which is relatively new, has a good number of easily accessible spaces and ramps wide enough for most vehicles up to SUVs.

This was a really interesting Cathedral, situated next door to the ruins of the older Cathedral wrecked in World War II and there is yet another more ruined Cathedral just up the road (the whole area is worth taking your time to visit, with the old church, prayer house, old houses, an old pub and a more modern museum). Even if you are not religious you cannot fail to be impressed by the stained glass windows and the architecture of the newest Cathedral. I was lucky as I was greeted on arrival by a very friendly lady who was happy to tell me about the glass window and the story behind it. It is also worth exploring all the various 'rooms' of the museum, including the basement where there is an interesting exhibition (history and religion). It is free to attend, and there are toilets on the premises. If you are looking for refreshments you will probably need to go to another nearby location, but there are plenty to choose from.
