Older (fit) Toronto couple took the train from Crawley for a short day trip. Lots of steps especially if you want to get onto the castle towers.
We bought the castle/garden ticket combo, omitting the bedrooms. The gardens were lovely, -filled with spring blossoms.
Rooms in the castle were filled with great paintings and artifacts.
Lovely brunch in the village, prior to our castle visit.
Definitely enjoyed our trip.

You can buy tickets for the grounds and tickets for the castle as well. We had tickets for the grounds, the castle and bedrooms and the ticket cost us £25 each. You can walk around at your own leisure so it is up to you how long you can spend here. I think it is well worth the cost of the ticket - and there are some very friendly and helpful guides around the castle who will explain things to you and give you an insight into the history - very informative. There is also a cafe in the castle where you can get refreshments - very welcome.

Only visited the gardens and wasn’t disappointed with my mobility scooter was able to visit the whole areas. The reason for the four stars was due to the entry into the Church and Castle was extremely hard.

Absolutely beautiful gardens ! Leisurely walk around different areas of formal planting interspersed with vegetables and fruit trees. Cool and relaxing fountains to sit by. Lovely trees to sit under and picnic with a glass of wine.... or have coffee/ cake/ lunch in the cafe. Took a visitor from the States, she loved it!

Largely 19th century restoration but amazing interiors and gardens are fantastic. Great views from the original 11th century motte. The Duke and Duchess of Norfolk still live here so the rooms don’t open until 12 noon. Definitely worth a visit. Town is lovely too with lots of good eateries.

The castle, gardens and rooms are definitely worth a visit. The castle is huge and you see so much of it. Normally you'd see a couple of bedrooms but at Arundel you see lots of rooms, bedrooms and view points. The gardens are stunning too.

We were rather lucky to be visiting during the tulip festival so the whole area was quite amazing. Gardens and park superbly laid out. The castle itself is stunning although not all areas can be accessed but the areas arranged for the tour are still more than enough. Would take any visitor there again

We ordered our tickets online and it was all very easy. On arrival I just quoted my reference number from the email and they printed out the tickets. There were no queues so even if you walked up to the ticket office it would not have been a problem. The gardens open from 10 am and the castle 12pm.
A walk around the gardens was spectacular, from the water gardens and beyond. The tulips were in full bloom and there was a great variety of trees and plants, some came from more temperate climates too. The gardens have been well planned and maintained. The symmetry is incredible and the attention to detail was perfect. We would have liked to have spoken with the gardeners but in all the 5 hours we were there we never encountered any.
The small cafe in the garden was nice, and the hot chocolate was superb, the best I had tasted, the lady serving was very nice too. There are plenty of seats dotted around and the toilets were very clean.
We went onto the castle and it was beautiful inside, no expense has been spared in maintaining it and making it a first class visitor attraction. The Canaletto Room was amazing to see, three paintings on display which were stunning. Every area was packed with antiquities and family portraits.
The gift shop at the end was not overpriced and likewise the cafe. A great day was had and we certainly plan to return in a different season.

An amazing place to see and experience. Very helpful tour guides and very beautiful gardens. However lots of steps to get the best view, but worth every step, shame they didn’t have lifts in 1067.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get close enough to take pictures of the external of the castle whilst it is closed?
Kind Regards
Joe
P.s Before someone comments like they have on a previous similar post, I am planning a future trip. For when things get back to normal travel wise but museums etc may potentially still be closed.

Hi Ian,
They have a good website which I think would have that info. There is also a concession (senior discount) Gold ticket available.
Enjoy your visit.
