- Paul MakLondon, United Kingdom453 contributionsBreathtaking!WOW. This Cathedral really is a must if you find yourself in the town of Arundel. Free entry and loads on offer, the general feeling one is expected to feel is utter calmness as they enter this Cathedral with amazing traditional decor. Definitely a must!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 September 2023
- ianb111Melbourne, Australia855 contributionsSmall, but well worth visiting. This cathedral is just about the smallest I have visited, but it is still well worth looking around. I think I arrived not too long after a Sunday service, as I could hear a lot of chattering going on. This was perhaps just as well as time was at a premium that particular day. Being so small, it did not take anywhere near as long to wander around as much larger cathedrals, but I still enjoyed my time wandering around.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 8 December 2023
- WikumjBromley, United Kingdom395 contributionsBeautiful and peaceful placeIf you have time on a visit to Arundel this is well worth stopping by. A beautiful structure with a very peaceful atmosphere inside. The best views of the cathedral exterior are actually from the walled garden in the Arundel castle grounds.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 July 2024

I will never visit Arundel Cathedral again.
A rude and inconsiderate Woman humiliated me as I walked into the Cathedral for mass at 10am on Wednesday 2nd Sept 2020.
The usual entrance has been changed however I was not immediately aware of this and walked in the usual entrance. To my bewilderment, I was shouted at with “that is the wrong door, can’t you read?! it is clearly sign posted”.
I then proceeded to the correct entrance only to be confronted by the same obnoxious woman who said “Excuse me, excuse me” in a gregarious tone of voice and ordered to me to use hand sanitiser that I am allergic to. The Woman then further interrogated me asking if I had been to the Cathedral before and if I was there for Mass.
As a Roman Catholic I have visited my fair share of Churches but this was an experience I have never had before, I will not be returning.

Enjoyed walking around and inside this Roman Catholic cathedral that is situated towards the top of Arundel up a little hill. From a distance it’s the cathedral and the castle that stand out on the Arundel skyline in this picturesque town. Inside the cathedral the stained glass windows come to life as the light shines in.

There is no charge for entrance, You can spend around 30 minutes to around an hour looking around.
Also light a candle for a loved one you are missing (I did 😊)
There is a gift shop, to look around as well, also you might want to contribute to the upkeep of the cathedral, by making a contribution (you can do this on your phone.
Be warned the walk to the cathedral is very steep.

You could be forgiven for thinking this was the Anglican church as it dominates the skyline (along with the castle), and is a large imposing building. It's actually Catholic. Quite restrained for a Catholic church. It has some nice Victorian carvings and pew poppyheads and a few monuments and memorials worth noting. Also has some nice stained glass.

A pleasantly restrained, handsome Victorian edifice, with a real surprise, its stained glass. The colouring is remarkably powerful, almost Mediaeval. It’s not Chartres, nor Saints Chapelle but its better than most Victorian. And there’s real structure which missing from so many modern wish washy horrors. Afterwards, Arundel offers a vast number of eateries. You will not starve in the town - but visit before the tourist season. Face the cold weather to see it on your own.

The cathedral in Arundel is situated away from the castle grounds but within minutes on foot to get to and worth a visit if you’re there.
It’s still a functioning place of worship so we remain quiet as we wandered in the premise.
There is a church shop in here too. Place close at 4pm and so does the castle side gate that is the nearest to the cathedral so if you miss this time slot you’ll have to get out through the castle main gate and walk back up.

The cathedral very much takes second place to the actual castle, but it is quite spectacular. Truth be told you'll probably get the best photos of it from the grounds of the castle as up close it's quite hard to get all encompassing shots of it.
It doesn't take that long to see around the cathedral itself, maybe 20 mins or so but well worth a look after the castle.

We checked before we arrived for availability to view inside this beautiful building and it said yes open today. Unfortunately it wasn't which was gutting. However I understand in these times the hours etc may change at short notice. I was in awe of this exquisite structure with its beautiful architecture and lovely stained glass. Cannot wait to see the interior as well.

I am afraid you can't have dogs in the castle but there are lovely grounds around the castle where you can take them
