This amazing Roman villa has a footprint bigger than Buckingham Palace! Thanks to a benefactor the beautiful mosaic floors of one of the huge wings of the house are now rescued and on view. Well worth a visit at around £8 and we also enjoyed the replanted Roman gardens. There are many more remains and mosaics that had to be... More

We began the day with an extremely enthusiastic lady explaining about everything to see. I had last visited at the age of fourteen and remembered the school trip well so I was interested to go back 30 years later to see what I could remember. The mosaics are beautiful and the film we watched about finding the site and artefacts... More

Excellent examples of ancient Roman mosaic floors ,an example of how underfloor heating was installed and used a overload of small artefacts and descriptions of their use other items and areas to visit depending on when you go,also check when a guided tour is available they can bring it alive.A worthwhile experience but it doesn't come cheap

This museum is great for school trips and people who are interested in the Romans. Well worth a visit and organising and attending workshops to see how the Rimans lived. The collections centre is fascinating and the staff ar helpful and friendly. Although the mosaics are well preserved due to building on the Roman site you can only glimpse what... More

Amazing mosaics with fascinating stories behind them. A very informative guide. Not convinced it would keep young children entertained.

We were guided around by the curator - not his usual role but he was fascinating. We and some other couples waited around for his next tour and joined again. He recognised that we had been with him before and changed the tour to be much more personal for us. We could have listened to him all day, so knowledgeable... More

We travelled to this area specifically to see this attraction. Wonderful mosaics, very well presented. We were very lucky that we went on a Thursday and got there early. Apparently, on some Thursdays a lovely volunteer lady runs tours of the 'back office' of the attraction. We had a tour of the conservation lab and met the conservators working on... More

The subject matter of this museum is the Roman mosaics, and these are extremely impressive. But they were made with slave labour under the Roman empire. For the rest of it, this place is stuck in the 1980s, maybe the 1990s. There is nothing modern about the presentation style - the museum is old and dreary, the lighting of the... More

Expensive for what it is and feel the place could be so much more. There still seems plenty to excavate or show in a better way.

Spent a great afternoon here with the family. We were lucky enough to be there when there were people playing roman characters with events for the kids to participate in. Educational and great fun. Rain or shine this is a great place to visit and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
