About
Bradford's beautiful Cathedral is a hidden jewel waiting to be discovered. Set in tranquil gardens the Cathedral is alive with a sense of story from its thirteen centuries at the heart of the city. This, the third church on the site, is over 500 years old, with twentieth century additions. Bradford's most ancient place of worship is friendly, peaceful and fascinating, with many special features. The Cathedral is home to some of William Morris' earliest stained glass: there is bronze and embroidery designed by Ernest Sichel: sculpture by Flaxman, Alan Collins and John Shaw: impressive windows and delightful woodcarvings: and an active arts programme provides a rich feast of drama, exhibitions and literary events to please the eye and inspire the imagination.

The cathedral was recommended by a local stained glass artist so we popped in, it is a wonderful tranquil place in the heart of the city and well worth a visit. We were met by an enthusiastic volunteer, Robert, who was very knowledgeable and showed us around. We learnt so much about the history of the building. The glass work is extraordinary and the building itself an amalgam of different periods. The Font piece is marvellous. We noticed the Cathedral holds regular events which are worth keeping an eye on. Thank you to Robert and the team for making us feel so welcome and sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for this lovely place. Wayne and joanne

My husband and I were very warmly welcomed by the staff and Friends of the Cathedral. We had some good conversations about the church by Robert, who had a very sound knowledge of the history of the Bradford cathedral.
We were delighted to be able to join Michael and a lovely couple who were part of the Stitching @Bradford Cathedral Group. In fact, I had the privilege of being asked to put a stitch in the kneeler cover! Michael was eager for me to participate and very kindly demonstrated how it was to be done.
We had a wonderful experience with their warm welcome and I came away with a little souvenir too (a needle), a memory of my time at the cathedral.
We wish Robert, Michael and the others all the very best as they continue to be a beacon of light in the city of Bradford.

A visit to Bradford, UK City of Culture 2025, would not be complete without a visit to the cathedral. The roof is beautiful but the highlight has to be the stained glass windows some of which are designed by William Morris. They're dispersed around the building having once been together at the end of the cathedral. A handy guide is available explaining who made each window and what it shows. Friendly volunteers and it has toilets!

Bradford Cathedral is a hidden gem of a Church and well worth a visit from anyone visiting the City. A Beautiful and welcoming building with friendly staff and volunteers. The William Morris stained glass and the WW1 window were amazing and the church fabric some dating back to medieval times. I visited to see where my Dad's 18th and 19th century ancestors the Holdsworth family weavers from Great Horton were baptised and wed and as I amazingly discovered 5 of their graves survived in the remains of the church yard. A Brilliant few hours spent in the footsteps of my forebears. Well worth a visit and 5 🌟

A hidden gem of a cathedral. This small, late 14th century cathedral is superb, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. The stained glass windows are a particular highlight, with late 19th century windows by William Morris.

Beautiful church and grounds on a site used for religious services for over 1300 years! I visited to explore the church my great grand father was baptized in, and where his parents were married. Incredible memorials and stained glass and an awesome experience with guides Robert and Ian sharing their knowledge of the church, history and area. Easy train ride from Leeds to the Bradford interchange, then a quick walk. If you are in the area i highly recommend making the trip.
