Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called here on the way home from Hull on recommendation of the pies !!
Greeted by a lovely lady who seated us, gave us menus and took a drinks order . Drinks appeared very quickly and our order was taken ; 2 steak pies one with veg and chips one with mushy peas and chips .
Honestly the best pie I’ve ever had, packed full of the most tender meat and served with a jug of rich meaty gravy , chips were perfect for the pie , not too crispy but soft to help soak up that gravy !
My partner couldn’t finish hers but they offer to box up the left overs and we took the pie home .
Large glass of Sauvignon and 2 Moretti beers , 2 pies and the bill was £47 … a lot you may say for pie and chips BUT PLEASE GO and try , worth every penny

We called in on a Saturday night and luckily we’d booked ahead as all the tables were full. We’d picked our choices on line so were disappointed when we saw the menu had changed, removing some of our favoured options.

I had Nachos with chilli as a starter. Good sized portion with plenty of jalapeños. Chilli was fairly mild but tasty.

2 of our party had prawn cocktails - very basic presentation but the big juicy prawns made up for it.

I had the Ploughman’s Lunch as a main course - very generous portion with a whole pork pie and home made scotch eggs. I couldn’t manage to finish my plate.

My wife had Thai chicken curry - served piping hot on a skillet - again fairly mild. She was over-faced as they brought both rice and chips.

The burger and fish and chips were given a thumbs up but again the portion sizes were large.

Very friendly service but there was a long wait between starters and main course.

Total bill including a bottle of wine, 2 beers, 2 coffees and 2 liqueur coffees was £105. Very good value considering portion sizes.

We went for a walk and decided a pint was in order so tried spotted cow for the first time the welcome we received was lovely especially for our dog Bobby who was given treats as soon as we walked in! We ordered some chips, haddock gougons and chicken gougons to share it was delicious we’ll definitely be returning to have a proper meal the staff were very friendly would highly recommend ❤️
