Child-friendly fun with brilliant tour operators, and added memorabilia. Tried on old uniforms, sat inside police cells...then to court. Could almost taste the history, but able to touch the beautiful craftsmanship, accompanied with knowledgeable, interesting, commentaries from staff. Court adjourned just in time for a look around the museum. Kids had a great time too!

An ideal place to find out what happened years ago to those generally 'poor' ,unfortunate people who happened to be installed in this building. Visit the cells and see the photo of one young boy imprisoned for just stealing a loaf of bread! Very good descriptions of exhibits everywhere. Have a guided tour where you can ask questions. See the... More

Excellent little museum, superbly set out, Jewel in the crown was the perfectly maintained Crown Court 1. Run by very enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. Definitely recommend.

I went to the Museum yesterday - they were hosting a Heritage Day. Started off with the court re-enactment and watched several 1940's cases as they would have been heard in that era. The "actors" were all people associated with the Museum, and it was very entertaining. Afterwards, I took one of the guided tours which lasted just over an... More

The old cells and courthouse were really atmospheric. Ian was a great guide. They have some very interesting and authentic artefacts, I would strongly recommend a visit. The tour takes just over an hour, they don't have toilets so make sure you go before you start.

Read TripAdvisor reviews and looked at the website before deciding to visit. Welcomed warmly by the lady on reception and was introduced immediately to Ian who was to be our tour guide. Had to walk around the outside of the building to the entrance where prisoners were originally brought. A detailed explanation of the building 's history commenced followed by... More
