Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We popped into Top Withens for a bit of respite from storm Dennis, as we were walking along the Pennine Way. From the outside it looks a bit like a reconstruction of an army training facility, but the inner details are original and weather-worn. Really is inspiring and wet and windy.

The walk isn't easy - about 3.5 miles from the nearest town and a bit of a trek, but worth it, especially if you are a Bronte fan . Surprising lack of Kate Bush fans...

The walk is two miles if you go from a different direction than Haworth and it's mostly along a sign posted old packhorse route that undulates a fair bit. The views of the surrounding moors are a delight and there are benches to sit on when you arrival at the shell of the building that was perhaps/probably the inspiration for Wuthering Heights.
Be warned ....there is no shelter along the two mile walk....nor at the building. If it rains ....you're in trouble!

If you are already in the area, this is a lovely little walk to round off a trip to Haworth, especially if you've already visited the Bronte museum and their resting place. It's not a particularly difficult walk and could take around 4 hours all in, depending on the route. The rugged landscape gives you an insight into how Emily found inspiration for Wuthering Heights and, although it's disputed whether Top Withens really is the basis for the farm house, the walk still boasts great scenery and views.

I have scoliosis so it was a bit of an 'epic' journey for me... but worth every ache and pain. Top Withens is one of the most atmospheric paces I've ever visited.

Even if you aren't a Wuthering Heights fan it's amazing..but for one who is, it is a must. So beautiful.

Top Withens had the wind wuthering and almost sent me hurtling down the moors. I crouched behind a shrub and steadied myself. The moor are magical and wild. I had carried a packed lunch but could not eat as the winds were talking to me.

A wonderful place to visit if you are interested in the Bronte Sisters, are walking the Pennine Way or just wandering into the hills.
The route up from Haworth and 'Bronte Bridge' is straight forward but the ground is rough in places so be careful.
Oh yes and there isn't a cafe or anything at the building (much to the disappointment of many visitors.

A great 4 mile walk from Haworth to Top Withens. Set off 8.50am from Haworth centre. After just 50 minutes, arrived at the Bronte Bridge and waterfall. A perfect half way point for a sit down and a break. Then across the bridge, up the hill and to the kissing gate. Turn left for 1 mile to the unique Top Withens, stunning views of the moors and the Heather's. A perfect summer walk. A choice for the return- you can go back the same route or try a circular walk via Stanbury and then Haworth. Beautiful views all the way. Weather and Temperature today 21 degrees.

As an avid hiker and Bronte fan, visiting Top Withens was a must. I walked from Haworth and it took a few hours there and back.

The moors are beautiful, and the walk not too tough for most of it. It is windy up here though!

Definitely worth a walk along the top of the moors, especially on a cold, clear Autumnal day. The paths and signs are well laid out so there is no chance of getting lost. A pair of strong walking boots is a must along with a fleece and some water. Amble part of the Pennine way at your pleasure.

I came to Yorkshire just to visit Haworth and the Bronte Parsonage, and to make the 'pilgrimage' to the moors and Top Withens. It more than exceeded my expectations. Breathtaking countryside, peace and quiet, just the bleating of sheep and occasional lowing of cows. I think I only passed maybe 4 people walking there and all the way back. Just what I wanted, a day alone out on the landscape that was so aptly captured in the novels I love.
