We took the Emmerdale Village tour on a bright Sunday morning in August. We had driven here and guests collect at the ‘New Inn’ public house where a coach will transport you to the filming set which is on private land. Free parking and (basic) toilet facilities are available in the grounds of the New Inn. We had a 10:30 tour and arriving at the public house in plenty of time, checked in and boarded our coach with a minimum of fuss.
Once at the village filming set, tour attendees are dropped off into a reception area and here you will find somewhere to sit, toilets and refreshments and some Emmerdale themed items to view whilst you wait. Our tour guide Sasha, collected our group and our experience started with a short walk down to the village of Emmerdale. As we proceeded around the village, we were taken around the different set exteriors only one of which could be entered (the church), though some may be viewed through doors and windows. The tour is of the exteriors of the streets and other buildings used in the filming so don’t expect to see too many interiors as some of these are filmed in separate studios.
As your tour moves through the village, visitors are welcome to take their own photos and a professional photographer also accompanies the group taking posed photos available later for a fee. Our tour guide, Sasha was very good giving us lots of information about the village sets and also some of the history of the series and allowed plenty of time to take pictures and ‘selfies’. At the end of the set tour, visitors are taken back to the start building where you will find the shop stocking all manner of themed souvenirs and also any photos that you had taken by the professional photographer. We bought a picture of us at the doors to the ‘Woolpack’ pub for £10.
Overall, a very interesting day out and the experience of walking the actual village used in the TV series is not to be missed, the Emmerdale aficionado will love it.

This was a brilliant tour, extremely knowledgable tour guide, Katy. Had lots of time for photo opportunities, far exceeded our expectations, Started about 1/4 mile away by coach at the pick up point, very well organised, Catering trailer for souvenirs and hot drinks( was -4 when we went.) The on site toilet trailers were outstanding, clean and well maintained) Would highly recommend this outdoor tour of The village, i will deffo return in the warmer weather,

Visited on a very hot Sunday. The whole experience was so well organised and managed, the chat that was given whilst we were still on the coach was great and informative.
Our tour guide Michel was exceptional, very knowledgeable about the secrets and stories of current and past Emmerdale characters and storylines and cottages, and delivered with wit and humour. He was happy to chat with individuals in the group but also brought everyone together for the main discussion etc in a very gathering way, rather than sharp instruction. He kept a handle on who was where and gave time for people to take photos before moving on, not easy with a large group of people.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour, and if you get Michael you are in for a treat ...

this was booked for my mums 80th Birthday Surprise, she is a massive fan and Emmerdale is her fave soap, we got there and the kiosk for drinks/souvenirs was the only one not even anywhere to sit, the card machine was broken so we couldnt pay and had to be correct change as it states the premises are cashless we didnt have any cash!!! so poor mum couldnt have a drink or get any souvenirs which were way overpriced anyway.there should be a backup system in place ie a float with cash for change!!!! the tour guide Rebecca was lovely but the whole tour was very disappointing and not worth the £35 each to look at houses that you couldnt go inside. luckily mum had an electric wheelchair which made it a bit easier but would not say it is wheelchair friendly, the Dingles house was too far away not really on the set and Home Farm not there, it was very rushed and hard with a wheelchair to get a proper view of anything people in front etc, there needs to be a proper shop/cafe where you can sit down i would not recommend it and def not worth the money so for an 80th Surprise gift it was a Let Down sorry to say

Emmerdale was the worst tour i have ever been on. Found the tour person woman was rude. Me and my friend felt as though the tour guide was being rude to us probably because we was the only people of colour on the tour (racism perhaps), she gave everyone a chance to take pictures but whenever we tried to she was giving us funny looks and watching our every move but gave everyone else the chance to explore and take pictures without being watched. The tour was pointless as you cant even move from the path waste of money and time your paying to look at buildings, the tour person was boring and was talking for ever didn't even give us a chance to actually see anything as we was on a tight schedule. The tour ended so fast considering its supposed to be for 90mins we only spent 30mins at the actual emmerdale site or less. The toilet facilities was ridiculous as there was no running water to wash our hands which was horrendous considering covid. I dont recommend going you get more enjoyment watching the show at home. P.S genuinely felt really upset with the treatment me and my friend had received

Went on this tour with my daughter as a present for Mother’s Day.
Our original booking was for 1 pm, but was changed to 1.45 pm, which was fine for us, but we were left waiting round in the rain ( can’t help the weather) for the coach until after 2 pm. We were then taken to the set, which took approx. 10-15 mins. The guide on the coach was called Paul, and I must say he was lovely, very friendly, and informative, the coach driver (Phil I think) was very friendly too. Sadly for me that was the best part of the tour.
We were dropped off at the shop/ cafe to wait for our guide, and to purchase overpriced Emmerdale souvenirs, then we were lead out into the car park to be told the do’s and don’ts, what we could and couldn’t do by the guide (in the pouring rain). Eventually we walked for what seemed ages to the actual village, then stopped every couple of yards while the guide pointed everything out to us and asked us questions about who lived where and who did what, I felt like a five year old at school. We weren’t allowed to walk around on our own, had to wait while everybody took their photos, and were told not to touch anything or walk on the grass. After hanging round, getting drenched, we were taken into the church to meet the “star” who on our visit was Ethan (the vicar’s son) he was a really nice friendly person, but he just stayed long enough to have photos taken with all the guests, then he was on his way. Didn’t get to see the Dingles, Pollards or the Tate’s houses as they were too far away, so all we really got to see for our money was the outside of the buildings, and a look through the door of the vets practice. Not worth the £114, we paid (£2 per person to the National Trust so we could park the car)

It was a wonderful experience all round but the weather was unbearably hot. That said, we took lots of drink and bought extra from the kiosk on site when we arrived along with some merchandise including a large hessian tote bag from 'David's shop'. Having researched before our visit, we knew that Emmerdale is essentially a 'fake' village set with all inside scenes filmed in Leeds at the studios on Kirkstall Road. We also knew that we would not be able to buy a drink of any sort in the Woolpack which would have been perfect on a very hot day like to day. It was great to be able to take so many photos and I was quite happy with the simple rules/requests not to take videos and not to walk on the grass. Some areas had gravel to walk on which was no hardship and despite the suggestion to wear appropriate footwear, I was fine in my comfortable flat summer sliders. Areas we were not able to visit for health and safety reasons made perfect sense as nobody would want an accident. The tour was actually longer than 90 minutes and the air conditioned buses were great for the short journey from the New Inn Pub at Eccup to the closed location at Harewood and back again. Three particular shout-outs go to our tour guide Jacob who was lovely and friendly and so knowledgeable. Not surprising really given that he works on set as a rigger and is on site nearly every day and there was nothing he didn't know. Then again to Jacob and Steve who came to the rapid aid to my husband who was overcome by the heat at the end of the tour and didn't feel well so he lay on the bench outside the vet's whilst he was plied with lots of water and Luke came in 'David's Van' to take us back to the coach. Thank you so much for your prompt action and care. He is absolutely fine now and really enjoyed his belated birthday experience. I'd recommend the tour to anyone who is able to walk a good 5000 steps and I'd love to go again in cooler months.

I visited Emmerdale the tour at the weekend with my mother for her birthday. She is a Emmerdale fan and was looking forward to the visit.
My mother is quite frail and uses a wheelchair, I was very disappointed to find that the tour is not wheelchair friendly and I struggled with the wheelchair. The car park is gravel and I had to drag the wheelchair. The toilets are portacabins with steps up to the toilets so not suitable for people who are not mobile.
There is a long walk to the start of the tour which is very hilly and people with mobility issues will struggle. There was a number of pensioners on our tour who really struggled with the hill back to the car park.
There is a merchandise truck which is quite high up for anyone to look at the items but impossible for anyone in a wheelchair. My mother struggled to reach up to pay for her purchases.
The whole tour took 60 minutes to walk around the site. The guide was lovely and explained who lived in the houses but that was the content of the tour. There was nothing open to see in the buildings and some areas were not accessible.
On our visit it was a hot day, there is a small seating area in the car park, however this was allocated to the visiting smokers !
I recommend that you look at improving your access to your tour for disabled people and wheelchair users. Very disappointed and I am sure there are many viewer who would enjoy the experience if the above issues were resolved.

This was a total waste of time, almost every building we came to the guide would say “ this a such and such a characters’ house but you can’t go inside because it is only used for scene storage or electrical equipment or this one is a rest room for the cast or this one is a toilet for the cast” etc, there was not one place we could go into, not even the pub. Almost all of the shooting is apparently done in the studio on Kirkstall Road. Some of the characters homes are quite a long way away and therefore can’t be seen at all. The car park is covered with loose gravel which makes wheelchair use a nightmare, the same goes for the area in the centre of the village. A bad situation was made worse by the lady in charge coming on to the coach and telling people that some of the souvenirs were in short supply which prompted people to queue up to buy items before going on the tour, the problem being there is only one kiosk selling drinks and souvenirs so the wait was much too long, many people only wanted drinks but there were more people selling souvenirs than on the drinks counter. Our tour was 15 minutes late setting off as we had to wait for someone panicking to get a mug and the tours run to a schedule so I felt we were a bit rushed. They are only interested in making as much money as possible from the punters. If you love Emmerdale the TV program DON’T go on this tour - you will never watch the program with the same feeling as before. You can visit almost any village in Yorkshire and get a better feel for character and personality that at this charade. It is nothing more than a TV set with no backing and very little substance to it.

well, I had wanted to do the tour for ages so I asked for it as a birthday present. The weather was glorious and we were the first tour of the day so it felt quite leisurely. Our guide was Mark and guess what? He is an 'extra' on the programme so had absolutely loads of stories and background tales to share. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and there are few places to sit so wear comfy footwear. Loads of photo opportunities. You can't go inside most of the building but that was fine, we got to go in the church and got loads of external photos. At all times, you need to keep off the grass, because this is a working set but Mark kept reminding us -in a lovely friendly way. The site shop is pricey but we pre booked one or 2 things (photo and David's bag lol) and they were cheaper that way. All in all, highly recommended.

I need to re-schedule my visit tomorrow due to illness, but there is no option to do this on the website. I did follow the instructions in the FAQ's, but there is no re-book option. I did find a telephone number but just got a message saying the phones were un-manned. Help!
