This is said to be the largest covered market in Europe and was home to the original Marks & Spencer penny bazaar. Beautiful ornate building on outside - what was disappointing was that the more recent extensions from 1970s onwards felt a bit soulless. However it is a working market but to be honest not a patch on the wonder... More

Passing through Leeds going to get a bus, ended up wandering through the markets both indoors and out. It was lovely to see all the produce and variety of goods for sale. Certainly felt like a "to do" when in Leeds. I felt like I got a glimpse of the heart of the city, in a place that mixed old... More

My Wife & I went to Kirkgate Market at Lunchtime during a recent visit to Leeds. We ate at the food court and had different Lunches from two of the stalls there. I had a superb Hot Dog with skin on fries from Fat Annie's, while my Wife had Pho from Banh & Mee Vietnamese Street Kitchen. The food was... More

I've just had a weekend break in Leeds and visited here on both days because there is just so many things to see it took us two days to cover every stall we wanted. There are loads of jewellery stalls, with an excellent stall in the outdoor area which sells a great range of necklaces, earings, and key rings for... More

I have been going to Leeds market for many years and some days are better than others, for example if I go on a Monday I notice the fruit and veg is not as fresh as it should be and is probably from Saturday but later in the week it is excellent. Where else would you get 15-20 bananas for... More

The market is easy to get to, its located right next to the Leeds Coach Station and Leeds Corn Exchange, and within walking distance from city centre and Trinity Leeds. The market has everything you need (almost!), from fresh veggies, poultry, seafood, fruits, textile, dry goods and wet market outside. There are many cafes inside and outside the market. There's... This is a huge market, we went in to have a look and were really impressed with the meat and fish stalls, all at such good value. We were also quite hungry and stopped at the street food stalls there. I had a two choice curry served on a tin tray with some rice and flat bread, really tasty, others... More
