Free visit as it was heritage weekend. We had a very informative tour which the children and adults found interesting. Was amazed that thus huge place is kept going by five full time people. I guess that explains the slightly odd opening hours. They are...More

We decided to visit Thwaite Mills Which is a19th century working water mill in a really pleasant location on the River Aire. Some areas were a little dark and the children needed some persuasion to enter but all in all a most interesting experience. The...More

Definitely the most interesting and scary industrial museum I've been to. Excellently preserved 3 storey mill with outbuildings on an island in the River Aire.. The 2 massive waterwheels are thundering around at 7mph still powering shafts and cogs that run around the building between...More

In my opinion it is the best museum in Leeds. Very authentic place, untouched since it was closed in 70's.

We need to see how to do stuff. It didn't need to come from a packet, or can. Impressive power from a smallish wheel. The energy needed was immense.
