I have spent many happy days throughout my childhood and adult life in this park. It's a beautiful park and it's a shame that it isn't enjoyed by more people.

We travelled on the steam train up to the park and walked with a volunteer guide through the ancient woods, with carpets of bluebells on either side between the beautiful old trees. On arriving at the visitor centre we had the cheapest mug of tea ever - 50p each! Then we walked back a different way with the guide who... More

We took the short ride on the steam railway to the edge of the park and had a most enjoyable walk. We had hoped for a look in the visitor centre but were astonished to find it closed.

We went here to walk our dog, purely because we were passing after visiting family, 3 times whilst there idiots on off road bikes came through the bushes and flying down the footpaths tearing up the grass and honestly nearly knocking down people , local yobs from the nearby council estate drinking cans of lager midday, its a sad state that... visiting this pond with my grand daughter of three I found this pond disgusting. Covered, she said in green water (stagnant) Not a safe enough rail around to stop the little ones falling in Next to the seat, cigarette ends and empty plastic cocaine bags. Too many tall rushes, needs 'weeding' The larger pond was better but still needs cleaning... More

Lovely mature woodland for walks, safe play areas, cafe was well run and exceptionally clean. Food was good and very reasonably priced. A very well kept park. We will definitely be visiting again.
