Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Disappointed with the Leeds Christmas market, equally the Christmas lights were poor around the city - im sure they've been better in previous years. It lacked atmosphere, music would have helped as would a variety of choice - lots of stalls selling sausages. I understand spreading the stalls out but in fairness when you've been to one area its pointless going to the others as its all very much similar. If the stalls were in some way connected - like in a wide circular around the city this would help people navigate, I over heard too many people looking at the market maps & working out where to go next, it certainly wasn't a treasure hunt.

We attendee an open air music event at the square. The area is very central and easy to get to. The stage set up with lighting and sound was on point and it was very well organised with plenty of staff keeping it safe. There were a couple of bars selling all the types of drinks you would want,a free drinking water point which I thought was great and plenty of toilets which were a decent standard.

Went today. Visited all sites of market. Zero atmosphere. Enjoyed a bratwurst and a mulled wine. Lots people drunk, swearing. People serving in the main, (apart from 2 lovely ladies at the Greek stall and the bratwurst stall), clearly didn’t want to be there. Went to go on horse carousel and went to booth and a guy was totally transfixed to his phone and ignored me for a good number of seconds. He v grumpily said ‘it’s £4.’ I’d seen a sign on the other side saying £3??? Wouldn’t have got on even if he’d paid me! Stinking attitude. Also v expensive. If you don’t go you’ve missed little.

We were looking forward going to the Leeds Christmas Market but was extremely disappointed with what was there. No real market to see!!!! Odd Christmas huts randomly positioned outside some of the shops Would definitely NOT recommend and we won’t be going back

Decided to get into the Christmas spirit by visiting the German Christmas Market in Leeds. A few stalls selling tat, overpriced German food & a makeshift beer Keller with a massive queue!
Who wants to spent an hour queuing to drink overpriced beer in a big shed? Lots of people apparently!
What's also funny is that Leeds has a proper beer Keller around the corner, in a proper building with warmth & it was dead. Ba humbug to this Christmas nonsense.

Well this was a complete let down after being here a few years ago.
It was mainly stalls selling overpriced food!!!! Charging £2.50 for a little bottle of water!!!
The few stalls that were there were overpriced selling all the same tat.
Do not even bother visiting. Waste of time!! Very disappointed

Very disappointed with the German Market this year. The layout has changed and it feels very small. For such a large city I don't understand why the put it in that small square. Surely it would be better down the Main Street in Leeds for more space and more stalls?
There was less there this year than last. Seems to be getting smaller. Won't be bothering next year. York or Lincoln is much better. Extremely expensive too.

Having never been to a German Christmas market before, I had a look round while in Leeds for shopping. I was not impressed and glad I had not travelled to Germany to see it. The gift type stalls were expensive, probably could get similar things more cheaply elsewhere, with a lot of duplication between the stalls. And you don’t really need so many Christmas decorations. There were some hot food stalls, I tried some freshly made poffertjes, sort of mini pancakes. I also bought some doughnuts to take home. A few stalls sold chocolate and marshmallows, others had mead and mulled wine etc. Again, prices seemed high. The stall holders/staff looked as if they would rather be somewhere else. Probably better to visit in the evening when the stalls are lit up and there is a more upbeat atmosphere.

Very poor market given the publicity. Mostly food and drink stalls with very little in the way of crafts. Head for York if you want a good Xmas market.
